It's hard to make sense of the political dislocations of the War unless you remember the grief and misery coursing through Parliament and the Cabinet during these years.

Powerful words from Peter in his letter to @theguardian.com.

The UK must "align with our European neighbours to help establish a powerful counter-force to the anarchic Trump regime."

Jimmy Carter, who died today, lived a life that reminds us what a leader can and should be. On the verge of Donald Trump retaking office it should be a profoundly important, timely reminder to us all.

“Some 56% of farmland bought in 2023 was sold to landowners who were not working farmers. The revenue per acre is too low to warrant the purchase, unless you are extremely wealthy and are avoiding inheritance tax”

Whose land? Tax avoidance and the broken economics of British farming
Noise in the billionaire press about inheritance tax changes hides a basic fact: the non-farming rich own too much land

I'm getting so sick of reading of men in positions of power who abuse women and display completely inappropriate behaviour intimidating both women and men around them. And look who is the president elect of the USA. Is it ever going to get better?

remember when this peaceful, people-friendly oasis at the Strand Aldwych was nothing but four lanes of dangerous, toxic traffic? Once a change like this is made—even on a smaller scale—and through traffic is restricted, no one ever wants to go back to the way it was

Shocking & sobering new statistics from @trusselluk.bsky.social. As they say “this can’t go on”
🚨 Over 1.4 MILLION emergency food parcels were provided by food banks in our community in just 6 months. This is 69% higher than the same period 5 years ago.

This can't go on and we refuse to stand by while so many of us are pushed to the brink, without enough money to live on.

It makes no sense for the govt to drag their feet on a youth mobility scheme with the EU. It is a win-win that can be negotiated without revisiting the main Brexit agreement. If the 'reset' not just an empty gesture then Starmer and co need to press on with it.
