Fuck Harry Potter.

Go read my books When the Earth Was Green and The Last Days of the Dinosaurs.

I’m a trans lady who writes prehistoric nature walks about disaster and resilience, how plants and animals shape each other, the hope seeds encapsulate, how community is more important than dominance.
Fuck Harry Potter

Go read the Protector of the Small series by Tamora Pierce.

It's about chosen ones, learning to using your strength and power to fight for people without it, pushing back against cruelty because it's the right thing to do, and how even in a magical world people need to Do Things.
Fuck Harry Potter

Go read the Old Kingdom series by Garth Nix

It's about deadbeat dads, chosen ones, necromancy through the power of bells, and choosing kindness over pragmatism, acceptance over defiance, and integrity over expediency.

Through all his troubles, neither the DOJ/FBI nor any state authorities ever subjected Donald Trump to arrest, preferring in every case to proceed by indictment and voluntary surrender. It’s notable that a sitting judge and pillar of the Milwaukee community was not extended the same courtesy.

3 days ago RFK Jr. told the CDC to stop recommending water fluoridation, claiming it was a neurotoxin (this is a lie).

Turns out he also just eliminated the CDC’s entire Lead Program, and now lead poisoned children in Milwaukee are just on their own. Lead IS a neurotoxin and harms brain development
CDC denies help for lead poisoning in Milwaukee schools due to layoffs
The CDC rejected a request for help "due to the complete loss" of their lead poisoning experts.

18-year-old Jude on laws banning gender-affirming care:

"On the more extreme end, for a lot of kids it's the possibility of severe mental-health struggles and suicidal ideation - but I also think on a smaller scale, kids, because they cannot be themselves, would rather choose to not be anyone."

EVERYONE in the United States, citizen or not, has rights. I will not allow this administration to intimidate us from helping you know about them.

i am going to put a finer point on this: executive orders are not laws. and they certainly are not royal decrees. they are interpretations of existing law for the purposes of enforcement. the fact that so many people are treating them as laws is actually driving me a bit insane.
i mean, the president's executive order isn't a goddamn law! as far as this doctor is concerned, who cares what the president says!
A New York City doctor said he will continue providing gender-affirming treatments to his patients younger than 19 despite President Donald Trump’s executive order aiming to ban such care.

The HHS website covering HIPAA and reproductive health information has been taken down. 🤰

That’s nice but the ABA has an overview of HIPAA rules around reproductive health data.

HIPAA remains the law of the land. Laws are set by Congress, not whiny incels.

When I was a Hill staffer in 2009, a Dem trifecta was trying to pass universal healthcare. In response, Senate GOP released a memo detailing all of the tactics they in the minority could use to delay the effort as much as possible. I'm recirculating that 2009 GOP memo here. Take inspiration from it.

Law professors pushing theories to end birthright citizenship are not acting in good faith. Their arguments are contrary to the Constitution, which isn’t ambiguous, & terrifying to millions. They can debate in the faculty lounge but in the wider world, we should not pretend this is a legitimate view
