I'm on Bluesky now
The thing is, PPG was announced for Miguzi, but never aired

IIRC they also ran it outside of Toonami in a quasi-preschool block (one of many such attempts) that also had Pecola, Baby Looney Tunes, and Sitting Ducks.

Speaking of girls, how come PPG never aired in Miguzi, considering it was a female-led action comedy and one of CN‘s flagship series?

yeah, and its also created a discussion in comments that's now too big to intelligently respond to

This thread is actually a really good map of two incompatible moral economies online. The two cultures constantly misread each other because they’re in the same room for once (Bluesky), but not speaking the same ritual language.
there's a disjuncture too between "open source AI hacker on bluesky" and "big AI company." the former are enthusiasts that have vastly different personalities and lifestyles than the kind of institutionalized personality the latter has

the reality of different people having conflicting interests and institutional rules not being magical tends to be swept under the rug in tech criticism, which is why the same recurring fights happen over and over again (anti-pornography vs "porn is the first line of defense")

it tends to accentuate one of the bigger issues with "technology must serve the greater good." whose good? you see this come into play a lot with how anti-AI criticism has now become co-determinous with late 90s industry piracy rhetoric about copyright

and finally the issue with 2010s tech criticism was that so much of it, when stripped down, was "I want a marxist revolution"

To me, the filmreel bumpers were peak Disney. A very distinctive set of bumpers that were used across countless releases and labels, yet still evoked Disney. One of the reasons I made my own compilation of them:

Hell, if it weren't for the arbitrary seperation between CN and AS that prevents CN and AS from sharing shows, I could see ASA's existing PG and light TV-14 series moving to this Toonami, such as Bleach and Inuyasha.

Probably not, but a man can dream.

Since Williams Street also ran Adult Swim Action, I could see some would-be ASA shows instead make their way over to Toonami- but just PG-rated ones like Moribito.

Then again, Action Flicks aired some TV-14 films, so maybe we could dip our toes into light TV-14 anime as well.

As for anime (outside of Naruto and probably Shippuden), Toonami Jetstream continued running until early 2009. I think they could air some of the shows they were airing at the time, like Blue Dragon, Kiba, and even... Transformers Animated?

Honestly, I think that OG Toonami could have survived past 2008 if they put some more elbow grease into it. And relied less on anime.

"You Are Here" and the followup "Night of Action" could serve as good templates for what might air (Johnny Test reruns not withstanding).

They're both about a famous big monster animal being a good guy now and teaming up with children to save the day in every episode

I mean, how else would you explain turning fucking Moby Dick into a superhero

Trouble is, what will happen if/when the D+ show bombs? Hasbro clearly doesn’t care about the franchise, to the point where they’re making Playmates make the toys. For the franchise owned by Hasbro. The toymaker.
