Also interesting is how this effect even applies to large booksellers. Barnes & Noble completely fell apart after they started making deals with publishers to buy books ahead of release *and* put them all up front (premium space). No one wanted these books and it contributed to B&N near death spiral
I once asked a bookseller at a large indie store how many people would have to buy a book for it to get the attention of the store buyer and cause an additional order and they said: Three.
I see some book piracy discourse, and, to make a positive argument in favor of buying books, your marginal ability to influence what books get published and support the careers of writers you like is massive compared to most other forms of media.

When I say that Slim's monologue in Sinners isn't a treatise for the movie but people just want to dismiss the importance of black congregation-ism because it aligns with their ideological priors

Feels a bit vindicating that with Yunara's VO riot on some level realizes that the lore they wrote for Ionia is orientalist/infantilizing af and want to kind of change that. But also kind of a poison pill because they aren't actually changing Ionia to be not an orientalist mess of trauma fetishism/1

Man. Riot just makes Demacians seem so cowardly and feckless. Why do they do this all the time? It just bums me out so much. The royal guards couldn’t bear the thought of even getting off the fking boat? Really?

The awkwardness in the way that I 100% think/expect riot to mess up any kind of Ionia vs Noxus plot with some kind of orientalist, "muh moral ambiguity" garbage about how Ionians bad & imperialism isn't actually Noxus' fault, but not in the same way that people who harp on Arcane being "centrist" do

I have thoughts about some certain potential leaks about a future champion from a potential knightly region and I have to say I feel vindicated for being right about everything for years, but only in a depressed and exasperated kind of way.
