Keep getting these typhoon wind warnings. Finally went to the website explaining the scale — we’re at level 14, which sounds about right based on the racket that wind outside is making. Stuff strewn all over the street outside my house already.

Turns out this warning was warranted. The rain is alright but the wind out there is fierce right now. Sounds like a plane taking off over and over. Strongest typhoon I’ve experienced in some years. Power is flickering.
First time seeing this particular warning during a typhoon. This one is shaping up to be a biggie.

The typhoon day started off with a surprise in my kitchen! 🐍
Thank goodness for a good landlord who has a snake guy on speed dial. Didn’t like the part where I had to help lift the furniture to get the rest of it loose, but thankful it’s gone now. *shudder*

I am really frustrated that the press is discussing the destruction of USAID as something that has happened rather than an illegal action that will likely be undone in two weeks when courts tell the world that it was illegal.

TIL: I thought I spotted an anachronism in a novel just now, but it turns out CDs and CD players have been around a good decade longer than I thought. 🤯

Was wondering why my neighbors on both sides seem so much louder today than usual.
Just realized it’s bc this is my first Lunar New Year in Taiwan living in a house on a residential street in Taitung instead of an apartment in Taipei. My Taipei place always got quieter at LNY with ppl traveling!

One more little earthquake in Taitung. Seems like are affected more by the Tainan/Chiayi fault than the Hualien one.

I briefly convinced myself that I had imagined that earthquake because 1) I rarely feel earthquakes in Taitung and 2) nobody I follow posted about it. 😅 #vindication
