Especially for the racist trash talk, but I think even more generally people see Omar, and hear that Minneapolis has the country's biggest Somali community, and assume that must be a substantial chunk of her voters. The numerical reality is nowhere close to that, there just aren't that many of them.

Grown assed adults expecting holidays to be like when they were a kid is a great microcosm of the problems we have as a society today. Nostalgia is a toxic impulse. There is no "the way things used to be", you were just younger and less informed and had fewer responsibilities.
