I just love the Ace Combat franchise so much. It's good, niche fun that lets you have that flight fantasy while also being incredibly accessible, and the music carries these games from being just good to can't-miss experiences. Each game is a love letter to the sky

AC7 cont'd: The story wasn't as strong as other titles, but it was very fun and overall had a good tone and humanist message. I wasn't a fan of the parts system since it necessitated aircraft being less responsive in their base form, and mission times felt compressed. Omitting team commands was odd.

Ace Combat 7 was my introduction to the franchise. Incredible graphical fidelity, sharp controls, overall great polish, and what an OST. Best overall mission variety of the series, and I think it ties Zero for having the best first playthrough experience, you are absolutely sold on being Trigger.

Ace Combat 6 is my favorite of the series even if it isn't the best. I loved the grand scale, you can see where they iterated on ideas from Zero. You get a sense of being part of something greater than just yourself. The Pasternak fight is just terrible, though, and the cutscene story was a bit weak

AC:Zero--I get it now. Easily the best title in the franchise in its overall package and has great replay value. Enemy aces put up a great fight, enemy AI is very competent and delivers difficulty without feeling cheap, you have to work for your wins. Incredible story both in and out of missions.

AC5 resonated with me the least. The story just didn't click with me as much as others and the aircraft families system requires so much grinding. Had some of the only frustrating moments in the franchise for me. Still a good title, really liked the squadron's characters.

Ace Combat 4 nails everything it sets out to do very well. It easily has the best non-mission plot and I really enjoyed the still image narration (this is super easy to localize, as a bonus). Enemy AI is shockingly good, and I appreciate the more limited scope to a lot of missions.

I don't recall hate for the capacity as much as I recall hate for it's further reduction in range from CE and 2
