S2 Finale - more irritating than THAT final ep of The White Lotus. Which I haven't seen. Haven't had time to listen to the Ha Ha Highlights of Ye Olde Muddle-ye-fuckheads either but I'll tell you what, there'll be a lot less gratuitous sex. Or whatever's in The White Lotus.

I see Undercliffe House is up for sale again. I wrote a long form piece for Viva Lewes about this remarkable place (that I lived directly beneath) a decade ago. A cast of residents that you couldn’t invent, a pure Edward Gorey fantasy.

A conversation on here earlier reminded me of a thing that I’ve always loved and occasionally bang on about.

It’s the care taken by Mackenzie Crook to specify which bird species we can hear in the background for many scenes in Detectorists.

Terrific author’s note from C K McDonnell. Automating a process is stupid if the process is the point.

Also, if a book lasts into further reprints, is read maybe, hopefully, into the future, these notes will be valuable, lived history.

The top row of the Peanuts Sunday strip was called the 'throw-away panel'. If there wasn't enough space in the comic section that syndicated it, the top row could be removed and the rest of the comic would still make sense without it. Schulz often used the throw-away panel for private/obscure jokes.
