"I'm standing up for real Americans, the ones in the heartland."

Like me, in Ohio?

"Yes! Real America like Ohio!"

Great! Even Cleveland?

"Eww, no. Not like that. Real Americans. Not Urban-Americans."
I hate phrases like “from the heartland” or “real America” because they encode so many things about who belongs and why. But so many politicians have been using these things as dog whistles to imply that a significant percentage of America is fake and doesn’t count.

Where you at Dems ? You fighting to get them far better severance or going to ignore them, and all others in similar circumstances?
Termination notices going out this afternoon to more than 300 employees of the National Cancer Institute. Access likely ends today. Four weeks paid leave and that’s it.

Strong power move for Team Cancer.

the “administrative state” in practice is a lot of very hard working, practically anonymous people doing the thankless work of making this country run and a drug-addled dipshit is slandering them in order to steal our money for himself
not trying to pick on this guy. this just reminded me that the federal government does not provide coffee to workers. to drink coffee at a federal office you generally have to pay into a "coffee club" that is managed by a staffer who volunteers to collect money and purchase a monthly coffee supply.
