Boehly's digging through Abramovich's old office hoping for a solution to the Maresca mess.

He spots an old dusty box with faded letters reading "in case of managerial emergency break glass"

Inside is just half a cigar and an old card with a phone number and two indecipherable words... Gus Hiddink

More good fortune for City after playing Africanless Sunderland. But on the plus side should help out league cup push

Swings and roundabouts I guess
Cor, whoever plays Chelsea next must be delighted with this. Wait a minute while I check their upcoming fixtures...

I think you've read me wrong mate.

It's not even about the match but the constant commentary that follows Emery & Arsenal, about how we were wrong to let him go etc.

Ironically I've got a lot of admiration for him, his Villa/Sevilla sides & accomplishments despite him being perennially salty to us
My post was in response to this. That doesn't read as laughing to me. Maybe I'm wrong, but it's seems entitled and bitter to me. A weird response to beating a side that sees finishing 5th as a huge achievement.

Everything about yesterday's match. From the pregame complaints about playing us twice, to how Villa set up to time waste and dive, to the post match reactions where Emery ducked the handshake shows why Emery didn't succeed at Arsenal and PSG.

He's small club mentality personified

That's why they call him the King of Brazil....
You can't replace players like Gabriel. The presence, physicality and bravery in both boxes is second to none, but his overall impact on the backline as its emotional leader and organiser is priceless.

Straight back in, for a game of this magnitude and plays like that? Come on man.

If I've said it once I've said it a thousand times

The biggest obstacle in this league is that we play Vs 12 every game while our title rivals tend to play with 12

Declan 🥲

This whole constant injury crisis thing is really getting crazy. We just can't catch a break.

Hopefully hurt pride will be enough to get us through this game and then we really need him back. Not hyperbole to say he's our best player atm

Arsenal have deployed 8 different back 4 combinations in the last 8 PL matches.

They’ve only had all their defensive options available for 3 weeks this season.

I think most analysts have little idea and if you told them (and stripped away the badge) they’d be floored and in awe of that club.

The assistant looks uncannily like Keir Starmer here and it's weirding me out

Another win, back to the top & it’s still not good enough? Will obviously feel amazing if we win something but the building narrative of the last few years is suffocating & the relatively unfair pressure on this group of players (& the fans) is sucking a lot of the joy out of the journey.

On the city game / Dias foul. I still find it wild that the fact that City's owners invite EPL refs to Abu Dhabi where they pay them tens of thousands to ref 'charity games' is not more prominent in commentary on the state of our league/game/pgmol

What a header Ollie fair play.

Guess we'll just have to sort them out ourselves

Glad Caicedo is back to wreak some havoc on Villa legs, hope they are least give them the same treatment they gave us

Alls well that ends well:

*3 points against good opposition
*Big Gabi back
*Jesus getting better each game
*Odegaard found his shooting boots

Did I miss anything?

Can't wait till we go back to complaining about conceding a shot on target. These tight games are too much for my heart

Good to see Gabriel on the bench, not encouraging to see Zubi at right back

Seems the past few months is a constant battle between our depth and our injury crisis

Is it just me who gets really depressed on their birthday or does it happen to everyone once you pass a certain age?

Tynewear is definitely England's second best derby. Guess we're all Sunderland today

Surprised at all the negativity online. Last night was a blast.

Late winners are good for the soul, and the lore (and we seem to have a habit of them at home Vs Wolves)

Otherwise was like a game of attack Vs defence - I even spotted @arsenalvisionpodcast.com in the Emirates bar

Still believing in the power of bringing on madueke Martinelli and Gyok at 70 mins.

But knowing our luck and our current midfield, villa will slow the game right down and we'll struggle to stop them doing so
December 6, 2025 at 1:28 PM
What a frustrating goal to concede, hopefully we can grab one back before half time. Good to see us switching up our attack a bit more
December 6, 2025 at 1:15 PM
Merino getting absolutely savaged this game. One match two rule books yet again
December 6, 2025 at 1:08 PM
I think that's a surprisingly good lineup given our injury crisis. Got enough starting to control the game, and enough on the bench to destroy tired legs late on. Real question will be how well Timber, Rice, Zubi and White can maintain a top level
