Dumb way to cheat on a test & lose spot in Top 10: sit in front of prepared student and listen carefully for pencil taps. One tap for A. Two taps for B. Three taps for C. And so on.
Do this in full view of the teacher. Continue doing this when Assistant Principal comes to the room.

They're called public records for a reason. Starting today, WIRED will *stop paywalling* articles that are primarily based on public records obtained through the Freedom of Information Act, becoming the first publication to partner with @freedom.press to offer this for our new coverage.
Wired is dropping paywalls for FOIA-based reporting. Others should follow
As the administration does its best to hide public records from the public, Wired magazine is stepping up to help stem the secrecy

A Former Federal Judge Just Beat Trump and Musk in Court. - Slate

““It wasn’t clear to me, having been on the bench for 17 years, that judges appointed by someone other than Trump would stand up for the rule of law. ………But they have stood up.”

Contrary to the misleading headline, the judge explains exactly what judges can and are doing.

Retired federal judge doesn't see much that courts can do to stop Trump's actions
Nancy Gertner says recent court orders suggest there's "nothing remotely legitimate" about the president's actions in these cases.

Love walking up to Moody and seeing waves of students leaving because we refuse to open the upper deck for students on big games so we have a wall to project tweets from days ago that are barely readable in the arena

Sergeant Gonell @sergeantaqgo.bsky.social sent me this picture. This is his call log. Each call is an automated Dept of "Justice" notification saying "The defendant you testified against is being released from the dept of corrections."
Each defendant assaulted him.

Great thread re Pacific Palisades Fire. Re: managing fuel… we need to take notes in Austin. #goodbyecedar
Here's the reality about the #LAFires this week: this isn't the first time ANY of these places have burned. Not even close. In 2018, we mapped CA fire history to look at fire frequency across SoCal. Santa Monica Mtns area burns more than anywhere else -- up to once per decade in a given spot. 🧵

I'm autistic.

We know the misinformation campaign circles around a false causation report linking autism to vaccines.

But that said, I'm a New York Times bestselling author and a delight. I cannot see how having a child like me is somehow worse than a child in an iron lung.

Vaccines protect kids.
Just a reminder that in 2019, RFK Jr.'s anti-vaccine misinformation campaign helped cause a measles outbreak in Samoa that killed 83 people, mostly kids.

Do you really want him to lead the Department of Health and Human Services?

1. The conventional explanation for food deserts—that these places are too poor or too rural to generate enough spending on groceries, or too Black to overcome racist corporate redlining — fail to grapple with a key fact: food deserts didn’t used to exist. My new piece in The Atlantic.
The Mystery of Food Deserts
They didn’t materialize around the country for no reason. Something happened.
