I'm deleting the Github Repos that hosted the code that ostensibly I owned but that was mostly written by LLMs at my prompting. I want to say it's been "months of work" but that's absurd.

AI is fine, the AI industry is not. We need a global moratorium and deep regulation.

I want to start a self imposed moratorium on AI use (scoped to me) but I have severe FOMO. AI opened up possibilities that just weren't there before, it's exciting and bleeding edge, but it's also so fucked up. Posting this to force myself to follow through.

Had a driver get mad at me today for some reason. They tailgated, made like they were going to overtake me on a busy urban road, they were screaming at me. This went on for several Kms. I don't think I did anything bad to them and their response was (to use a popular word these days) unhinged

Regulation of AI and the tech companies that control them needs to be at the top of the list of issues being decided on by governments.

Having said that, with the end of democracy looming and the climate catastrophe we're already experiencing, it may not matter that much.

Also, stop electing old people. All they care about now is technology that will help them live forever. That would be a fun outcome...

Our governments are not capable of dealing with the issues of the current era. In the end the bigger countries will just revert to force and everyone else will be forced to take sides. I think there's a chance to avoid this, but we've gotta stop hating each other.

If you're not worried about the impact on society that AI will have then consider this. No new games consoles, no PC upgrades, expensive laptop upgrades, impact to the games industry... Of course you can just have an AI build you the next great AAA game which only you'll have access to... :/

Watching a Youtube video from Machine Learning Street Talk where the presenter talks about `abiogenesis`. What could possibly go wrong?

I traveled extensively in Japan before the pandemic. I was always as in tune with Japanese culture as I could be. Always tried to respect it and the people that I met. Tried to speak Japanese whenever I could. Not been back since and now bad foreign tourists there are messing it up for everyone.

Part of me wants to be a member of the AI is great crowd and another part of me just wants to stuff the AI Genie back in the bottle. Fuck capitalism and the unrestrained greed of tech companies, fuck the Trump regime and other governments too scared to regulate, fuck the haters poisoning discussions

The Harry Potter books were my absolute favourite books from my early 40s until my late 50s. Then the author told me I wasn't welcome at Hogwarts. I still have a deep fondness for my memories of reading the books, but I have accepted that Chamber of Secrets is really not very good.

The ongoing arguments about the use of consumer AI are happening under a cloud of existential dread. We need to give each other space and accept that there are multiple valid points of view. We are stronger together and if we listen to each other we might find a way out of this mess.

I'm both excited and horrified by AI, but the more I engage with others that use it the more my brain leans towards the excited perspective, that's how humans work. I have to keep resetting so I don't become an obsessive AI nerd.

My hackles raise when the Gemini agent refers to me as "the user" in it's chain of thought. Is that really all I am to you!

It can't be formally announced due to the city's contractual disclosure rules, but I can tell you that to the best of my knowledge:

Denver will be removing Flock Safety cameras by April 1st.

Happy Valentine's Day. 💖

BTW: There is no Solidarity in the US left of center and without it the country and the vast majority of it's people are hopelessly lost.

Listening to Obama being interviewed by @briantylercohen.bsky.social. He mentioned Solidarity and the changes they bought about in Poland. We need Solidarity, both in terms of cooperative, anti-authoritarian action and, more importantly the movement.

I absolutely refuse to hate anyone, but if you vote for Reform (UK Facists) then you better hope they don't get in power because I will absolutely go to war against you and them if they do.

If you treat and expect an AI to behave like a human then one day you will be in for a surprise. Mind you, you can say that a reasonable percentage of humans too
