Gamers. It’s time

I've said it before and I'll say it again: I have almost literally 1000 "old" games on my shelf, most of them unplayed or unfinished, and a wishlist of nearly 2000 more to buy. If video games stopped being made at all tomorrow I'd still have enough for 3 lifetimes. Boycotting AI is not a problem.
Hate the argument of "Well you can boycott for now, but soon every game studio is going to use genAI and you won't be able to tell or avoid it anymore!!"

dude there are already more videogames in existence than I'm ever going to be able to play in my lifetime. this boycott shit is easy.

Checked out my Spotify wrapped!
It just says: "I still exclusively use an iPod because I prefer to own music rather than rent a service that depends entirely on my Internet connection to work."

At some point you look at your pile of nearly identically shaped device cases and start to think that maybe this form factor is getting a little overdone.

Apparently this is the month where all the really old/obscure 90s PC games I played when I was like 8 go on sale on Steam for less than a dollar. I've picked up Sheep and Starship Titanic for 89¢ each. Now I'm just trying to think of what other stuff buried in my memory I could find.

You know I've talked for a long time about how I always prefer physical media to a digital download, but the Switch 2 Key Card stuff has made me realize that at some point I just stopped thinking of digital downloads as having value at all.

BY THE WAY

If you've updated to Windows 11 recently, you're probably on version 25H2.

There's a new setting in Settings: Privacy & Security.

Scroll aaaaaaaalll the way to the bottom and you'll see "Text and Image Generation."

TURN IT OFF.

If you want to know how fucked this is: I overheard the hosts of the conservative morning radio show I'm forced to listen to at work (because we literally can't get any other station to pick up) dunking on how creepy and morally bankrupt this is.

Got to be one of the beta testers for @retrodotcards.com's upcoming release "pixel pup"! Just finished the puzzles and got to enjoy this nice little thank you! The game is really well done, and separating the engine and the puzzles to separate cards is very clever!

Nothing to remind you of how much you've changed as a person over the last 15 years like going through your (80+ page) ignored game list on Steam, and realizing you have no idea what younger you was thinking, and that you've since purchased half of them.

Yeah, this all tracks, mostly. Someone care to explain why it has apparently taken me as at least 10 hours longer to finish GAA1 and half the intro to GAA2 as it did the entire original Ace Attorney trilogy? No wonder it took so many sessions!

Daylight savings time, the time of year when people who collect old handheld game systems realize they have a lot more clocks to reset than the average person.

And now that's a first party true physical for under $70 new! Third parties have no excuse at this point (and no, the read speed doesn't count. It's their own fault they don't want to properly optimize).

11 games to get to know me! (because "10 games to get to know me" just wasn't enough. I could not pick 1 of these to remove.) I may be a little biased towards Nintendo handhelds and platformers.

Finally assembled my Mega Man model kit last night. As part of that I looked up a bunch of official Mega Man art to remember which arm is supposed to be his cannon arm (I remembered him being "left handed"). Turns out both Mega and Proto Man are fully ambidextrous.

So I believe this makes two true physical games for Switch 2 at under $70 now? Sounds like whatever costs problems there were (if any) that forced $70 prices on them is gone.
