Because SLIMY and SEDITIOUS DEMOCRATS have STOLEN the color Blue from True Blue (or should I say True Red) Americans, THE COLOR BLUE IS NOW AN ABOMINATION UNTO NUGGAN! It is now TOTALLY ILLEGAL to look at anything Blue including the sky and the sea. Thank you for your attention to this matter!

My Bride came by while I was working, so here’s a shot of your Humble Narrator working on the deer. The leg bones you see will be turned into things like needles, knives, arrowheads and fishhooks. The lower leg bones are very dense and strong. Like wood, they are easier to work when fresh.

You can’t even believe what a joy a fresh, sharp flake is to work with! It requires so little effort to cut through hide and meat, it’s almost like having a zipper. The edge on a fresh flake can literally be thousands of times finer (hence sharper) than any steel blade ever made. Also less durable.

Historically, you don’t see the pretty, standardized cuts of meat you see from a modern butcher. It’s all about efficient conversion of the animal into usable parts. Faunal remains indicate that many animals were taken apart along the natural divisions between muscles and along bones.

Fred’s deer. He got it yesterday morning with a Lee-Enfield rifle in .303 that he borrowed from his brother. Range was about 130 or so yards, deer was quartering to. He hit high, got the spine, and it dropped in place. He had to finish the job with a .357 to the neck.

Today was my 22nd anniversary at work. For the first time, I celebrated the day by not going to work. Back at it in the morning, though.
