All of which to say, y'all, we need to do this together. Many, many others with much, much more experience and wisdom than me have been shouting this from the rooftops for ages. Find the ones speaking about issues important to you. Let them help you prioritize and focus your efforts.

I have so many more ideas for stories set in the world and characters, but it all depends on if the series finds more of its people or not. I've been open I've found the mixed reception of book one painful for what is such a personal and exposing series. But if you build it, I will come. <3

I finished Emberclaw, the end of @lrlam.bsky.social 's Dragon Scales duology and.. I'm grieving because I wanted it to be longer. I wanted more time with the characters. It's a clever, creative, loving, deeply human (even if one of the main characters isn't) romantic adventure heist. #booksky

Your reminder that 29.3% of all revenue from indie bookshops immediately recirculates in the local economy 😊

That's 4x more than Amazon.

When you buy audiobooks through Libro.fm, you're supporting not only your indie, but your local economy.

Six weeks ago, I picked up a year-old tawny owl with a broken leg off the main road near our home and dropped him off at our nearest vet.

After a few days, I received one of the most bizarre phone calls I’ve ever had, asking “So when are you coming to pick up your owl?” 🧵

With the government shutdown, even more families will be turning to their local food banks for help. If you can, support them. Money is best - they can usually buy in bulk what they need to serve the families they support.

In the spring, the Trump administration abruptly cut $500 million from an emergency food assistance program that delivered meat, dairy, eggs and produce to food banks across the country.

Thousands of planned deliveries were canceled without warning.

Yea, all the natural dye colors!

Spent the day at a Dye Like A Viking workshop that was phenomenal.
25 yard mini skeins of super wash wool dyed with natural dyes. From left to right, a bright pink from lichen, a pale rusty red from madder, a mauve from buckthorn + ammonia, a golden yellow from buckthorn bark tea, a pale yellow from oak leaves, a pale greenish yellow from tansy, a sage green from buckthorn berries, and an indigo blue from woad.

Hrm. I sort of inhaled @jessiemihalik.com 's Capture the Sun, which was excellent (clearly), but that meant I needed a new book for a drive this morning. Started @rfkuang.bsky.social 's Katabasis and so far it's delightful and on-brand. And should get me through at least the weekend. #booksky

Please use alt text when posting illustrations or photos or other images. I realize it feels like an inconvenience if you didn't ever do it at the other place, but folks who need it are a zillion times more inconvenienced every single day.

And if you are consistently focused on one or two areas then you can safely ignore all of the people doing NOTHING who are constantly yelling "someone needs to do something" [that I am personally not doing myself].

Pick one or two lanes and keep at it. You are one person and cannot do everything or take 10 actions a day.

They all play nicely without getting tangled or confused and provide rich storytelling and escapism when I need to wind down my brain. White Rat is for listening with my love; Starlight's Shadow is for solo listening; Dragon Scales is reading.

Current books: @tkingfisher.com Temple of the White Rat books (finished The Wonder Engine; returning to finish Paladin's Faith), @jessiemihalik.com Starlight's Shadow series (re-listened to Hunt the Stars before starting Eclipse the Moon), and @lrlam.bsky.social's Dragon Scales duology. #booksky

We MUST take care of each other, and that includes protecting those who have *always* been more likely to be targeted for violence. Life-altering consequences are happening to real people MUCH more frequently now. They need our support, in real, material ways. Not all activism is loud.
terilynhinds.bsky.social
Re last repost: yes, those of us with race and positional privilege should NOT be complying in advance, but please read the room when admonishing people for not being louder. It is actually not safe for some people to be louder right now. Others may be doing advocacy work without posting about it.
