My Dad is visiting. Every morning, he gets great satisfaction from taking all the receipts from his purchases yesterday and entering them into a spreadsheet where he also catalogs every movie he's watched and every book he's read.

What makes this particularly bad is that the article lists 50 year old credentials for both of them (they were Marxists in the 1960s, but abandoned it for neoconservatism) to give the impression that this is a critique of the left, from the left, which couldn’t be further from the truth.

A bunch of bullshit credentials for the authors of this article. Essentially listing the leftist orgs they were affiliated with in the early 1960s before they sold out and became Reagan Republicans.

All the videos we see of ICE/police/military assaulting people on camera are happening because they know they will face no consequences for their actions. They're breaking the law because they believe the law no longer applies to them. What kept them in check before was fear. Now they have none.

Always a little weirded out when someone's like "Here is my cosplay" and their face is clearly photoshopped into the uncanny valley.

For me, anyway, the joy of cosplay is what people can do with just the physical changes, not also dropping in photo retouching

NEW—US Department of Education sent out standard Out of Office language to employees on Wednesday in light of shutdown. Later yesterday, workers tell me they found someone had updated their auto-responses without consent to a new one blaming Democrats.

More pointedly, the pope said, "Someone who says, I'm against abortion, but is in favor of the death penalty is not really pro-life. Someone who says, I'm against abortion but I'm in agreement with the inhuman treatment of immigrants in the United States, I don't know if that's pro-life."

I think about this a lot, but two of the biggest lessons of the Salem Witch Hunts are:
- most people don’t recant, they just lose interest and move on from the fear-mongerers when things get unseemly
- the Mathers never recanted, and just retreated into bitter irrelevance, no just desserts

Provisions that end the legal recognition of trans people are part of HB 3838, HB 4552, and HB 5342.
Sec 594 of HB 5342 is a prison ban that sees that no federal funding can be used to place an incarcerated person in a prison inconsistent with their "biological sex
There are SOCIAL transition bans as part of HB 5342 and HB 5304.
A provision to ensure trans and queer foster kids can be taken in by homes where they'll be forced to endure conversion therapy and abuse is part of HB 5304.
Bathroom bans are a part of HB 3838 and HB 5342.
Despite House and Senate Democrats uniting as a bloc against transgender sports bans in January and February of this year (with the exception of the 4 notable and vocal House-D bigots), sports bans are a part of HB 3838, HB 5304, HB 5342, and SB 2296,
