Every time I love a terrible character I think of a wonderful quote that I'm going to paraphrase badly:

"A reader can forgive a character who commits atrocities much more easily than one who bores them--the atrocities are fictional but the boredom is real."

But I ALSO had the opportunity to speak with Connor Storrie and Hudson Williams about #HeatedRivalry Episode 4, why they didn't feel added pressure to adapt the book scenes perfectly, the tuna melt turning point in Shane and Ilya's romance, and more. (With video — YT incoming!)

And that show looked amazing too! (Assuming you’re talking about Neon Galaxy.) I’m still mad about what could have been whenever I think about it.

It’s been especially maddening seeing anyone in publishing at all embrace it, given that LLMs are trained on stolen literature. So I’m relieved to see more and more people realize that no, the false time saves aren’t worth everything else about it.

For what it’s worth, in my industry anti-AI sentiment has been rising.

“This year, 63% said their companies use AI. But the more familiar people become with the technology, the less they seem to like it. This year, 72% said they believe AI will be bad for publishing, up from 56% in 2024.”
The 2025 PW Salary & Jobs Report
This year’s report, based on 726 responses to our annual survey of publishing professionals, reveals that the industry is becoming increasingly diverse—and increasingly skeptical of AI

Normies love the ability to play with AI as an interactive toy that spits out stuff for them, but the public really doesn't like the outputs other people make with LLMs. They're OK with being personally creatively lazy but are offended it when other people do not put effort in for them
