ICE is starting to remind of the Gestapo.

And I am NOT exaggerating about that.

The videos I am seeing about their profligate LYING, intimidation, trickery and cruelty is making me think we need to defund ICE.

This same Christian Nationalist symbol is tattooed on the guy they just confirmed. Hegseth has raged against Muslims while drunk in public. He’s told racist jokes about Mexicans according to his sister-in-law. We know what he’s about and why he has that tattoo. So disgraceful.

Costco responded to shareholders requesting that it withdraw from DEI policies. The response was direct and to the point: Costco says, "Our board has considered this proposal and believes that our commitment to an enterprise rooted in respect & inclusion is appropriate & necessary."

People not elected to government should not have the power to reshape the government, especially people whose obscene wealth depends on the government functioning a certain way.

This is not a hot take.

It's just plain common sense.

A Third Woman Died Under Texas’ Abortion Ban. Doctors Are Avoiding D&Cs and Reaching for Riskier Miscarriage Treatments.
Thirty-five-year-old Porsha Ngumezi’s case raises questions about how abortion bans are pressuring doctors to avoid standard care even in straightforward miscarriages.

Libby is really an incredible app. I've read so many books on it that I would never have come across, let alone taken a risk on if they weren't available at my library. 📚💙

I don’t think there will be any need for “I told you so.”

MAGA got what they wanted. They voted for his policies. Now, we have to be ready to protect each other. That looks like standing in the way and throwing sand into the gears. Taking up space. Keeping receipts.

When I was a child, I learned that the Constitution didn’t apply to people like us. I said the Pledge of Allegiance from inside a barbed wire camp, the words “with liberty and justice for all” wholly meaningless.

But I did not give up on America. I’ve spent my life fighting for its ideals.
When we were children, we were taught that no matter how you reached, no matter much wealth and power you accumulated, you were not above the law.

We can no longer teach our children that.

And that's really fucking tragic.

The "bluesky is an echo chamber" think pieces that keep popping up really tickle me because they show how certain people genuinely believe social media should be for debating and arguing and not talking about the things that make you happy and sharing art with the world.

if you have access to a local library … USE ITS RESOURCES!

visit! check out books, even if you end up returning them unread. sign up for programming! request new books!

libraries are some of the best community spots around and it’s so easy to support them & help them continue to get funding!

Just my 2 cents. But my goal is to ignore the trolls. Give them zero attention. Block them if they annoy me.

I think the worst thing we can do on this site is re-create the ad hominem/ personal attacks that occur across comments on Twitter/insta/tiktok/ etc

“Yesterday I visited my son's school and I saw a bright colored bench in the yard. I asked if it was new.

He said to me, ′′no, that's the ‘friend’s bench.’ When someone is down, they'll sit there so others find them."

To me, that’s how finding Bluesky feels.
