Kerlingarfjöll - the colours, the light, the stillness

The quiet power of these mountains reminds me of what´s worth holding close to your heart.

A softly shaped mountain landscape in different shades of brown with small patches of green moss scattered across the slopes. A beam of sunlight falls on a small area , while the rest lies under grey clouds. The light adds a gentle contrast to the scene.

Ran through the night on Saturday pacing a friend to their first 100 miler. Felt special. This is the view from Redcar as we made our way south along the North Sea coast.

Leaving the ECHR would allow the State Pension, the Minimum Wage, Sick Pay, Maternity Pay, Paid Holiday and working hour limits to all be abolished.

They would make hundreds of billions from this.

That is what they want.

In August I went up to the Cairngorms for a 2 day hike in the mountains. Excellent warm weather helped make it a memorable trip, accompanied by a friend (pictured) who is well on his way to becoming a fully qualified Mountain Leader.

A warm sunny day in the mountains of Scotland. Alasdair, wearing a bright green shirt, is sat by a cairn on the summit of Derry Cairngorm, with many more mountains in the background

Frost in Braemar this morning but then a lovely few hours before high cloud moved in & wind increased, still a fine day for the hill though. Went up Beinn A Bhuird from Linn Of Quoich. Fine views of Ben Avon still bathed in sunlight from the Summit.

Morning sun shining through birch trees.blue sky and some frost in ground View into Corrie to the east of Beinn A Bhuird containing Dubh Lochan. Summit cairn with heroic mountaineer (😂), with the tors of Ben Avon behind.

After Cona Mheall, we made our way up Beinn Dearg for the highest top of the day. By the end of the day @loz_hennessy boots had split from two years of hard service.. 😱 #autumn #mountains #Scotland #hillwalking #outdoors #Munros

Took advantage of a gap in the rainy weather to tick off a few remote Munros today. Maoile Lunndaidh, Sgùrr Chòinnich and Sgùrr a'Chaorachain.
Pyramidal ridge towards Sgùrr Chòinnich, reflected in a pool halfway up. A rope bridge over a river, with a sign saying "you use this bridge at your own risk". As the top rope is so slack, anyone using it is guaranteed a swimming lesson. Rocky ridge towards one of today's summits Three lochans in the corrie below Maoile Lunndaidh, with mountains all around.
