I don't think Target has calculated just how much the average shopper just wants to be left alone. Retail staff being performatively overly friendly is quite literally a deterrent from me stepping foot in your store.

In every space I've been in as a vocal Marxist and African decolonial activist, I've always noticed how it's never the poor rural rightwing types who hate me the most, it's always the educated and often high-earning and well-off liberals (especially the white ones).
