I never knew Steve Cropper was from freakin' Dora, MO. That was my neck of the woods where I grew up and somehow even a smaller town than where I went to school. And look at what he accomplished. RIP.

Was there an actual complaint about best of lists being full of movies the person had never heard of or did someone decide to get mad at a hypothetical situation again?

I don't have any strong opinions about Paul Dano in just about anything. He does the job asked of him. But I'll give him this, he's good enough as the weaselly, falsely pious preacher in THERE WILL BE BLOOD that I actively rooted for him to be on the business end of that bowling pin.

I like to think that Tarantino and Paul Schrader are in some sort of unending game where they have to one-up each other in outrageous public statements but neither one of them will blink.

Woke up having an allergy attack so I took Sudafed (the real stuff) allergy pills and then drank about three cups of coffee without considering the consequences.

I think I may be seeing God right now. He looks like Don Knotts.

Watched THE THICKET tonight. The novel by Joe Lansdale is probably in my top five by him, so we're talking pretty rarefied air. The movie is hit or miss. Dinklage is (obviously) perfectly cast and delivers. Juliette Lewis is great. But everything around them is oddly restrained. As if none of... 1/?

Moving back to Chicago this coming Sunday-Monday. I really need everyone sending good vibes that the weather cooperates for the drive. Getting really nervous about this as timing is going to be pretty key with the rental van and a flight literally the day after I get there.

I Heart Radio is basically pure evil in the radio world. That even they're realizing this is a losing proposition says something. Sure, they'll probably try to reverse course later when the heat dies down, but the fact that even the short term is such a loser for this stuff is impactful.

This is a bummer, but not surprising. I used to go to the one in Lakeview quite often, but it steadily went downhill for a solid year before closing three or four years ago. I last ate at this Loop location about two and a half years ago and it was pretty good, but there were hardly any customers.
