Twin Peaks, horror, books, psychotronalia. He/him.
This one was a real oddity.

Motivational Growth (2013). A suicidal shut-in starts taking life advice from the fungus in his bathroom, which is voiced by Jeffrey Combs.

The plot owes a lot to Little Shop of Horrors, but with a much more cosmically odd flavor.

Went to Pasadena ComicCon today, with the fam. As always artists alley took all of our money. I’ll be posting my haul as I work my way through it.

First up: these two #TwinPeaks prints by AndrogynArt/Jesse Ledina. Look them up on insta because they had easily a dozen more I wanted

Now that we’re a few weeks into 2026, I can start digging through all the new releases for some gems.

#NowListening Sleaford Mods: The Demise of Planet X
Released: 01/16/26

New post punk hip hop delivered in a thick Midlands accent!

Time for another #FolkHorrorFriday as I work through Severin’s All The Haunts Be Ours box.

#NowWatching Viy (1967)

I’ve seen this one before, several times in fact. It’s terrific. Full of incredibly imaginative filmmaking.

Time for more 2025 catchup, and one of this years Oscar nominees I haven’t seen yet.

#NowWatching Bugonia

I am very up-and-down when it comes to Lanthimos, and literally have no idea where this one will fall on the spectrum.

On the other hand…
January 22, 2026 at 9:32 PM
Ok I lied, I didn’t watch it last night.

#NowWatching The People’s Joker

Finally, it’s been a long time coming.

Took the oldest out to the Twin Peaks: Conversation With the Stars / David Lynch birthday celebration.

Ran into a bunch of cool people, like @davidlynchsworlds.bsky.social, my ex-neighbor Nick who isn’t on here, and @danagould.bsky.social.

A real fun night with some real fun conversation.

Folding laundry, continuing to work through the Dirty Harry Blu-ray set.

#NowWatching The Enforcer, AKA Dirty Harry Vs. Feminism. I expect this film will be full of nuanced and sensitive takes on gender inequality.

Happy birthday, David Lynch. Gone a year already, I can’t believe it.

Finishing the night with my favorite movie, and finally cracking open the Criterion 4K which I’ve had pretty much since release day.

Doing some work at home and catching up on some horror films.

#NowWatching Bone Lake. Judging by the poster it’s about a skeleton that throttles people? Maybe drowns them in the lake? Looking forward to some fun skeleton action here.

Zelda has been giving the film her undivided attention for like ten minutes now.

Finally catching up on another film I’ve been wanting to see.

#NowWatching Black Phone 2

Heard some mixed responses to this, but I liked the first one, and this one looks pretty entertaining.

Alright. @ambergir.bsky.social and I are now seated for The Bone Temple.

I loved 28 Years Later, and was a bit disappointed that Danny Boyle isnt helming this one. But I like Nia DaCosta, and hear great things about this.

Last week was potentially my final week of union classes. I’m almost at the finish line for this apprenticeship. Spent the last couple days of the week carving this segment of rock wall.

I’m mostly happy with it. It takes a good picture, at least.

Just back from a screening of Tales From The Hood at @killerfitnessla.bsky.social, hosted by my friend from the internet, @ninjapleasedj.bsky.social.

Sadly didn’t take any pics, but I got to briefly tell Darin Scott and Rusty Cundieff how big a deal they were to me in HS.

#NowWatching Across 110th Street (1972)

Been wanting to watch this for ages. Never seen this before, but it has an absolutely killer title song.

Going to see Tales From the Hood on Sunday, with Rusty Cundieff in attendance, has me revisiting a movie that was an honest to god obsession in high school.

#NowWatching Fear of a Black Hat

Me and my friend rented this every week for months. I still quote it regularly in everyday life.

Another pointless milestone: first book finished in 2026.

The Unworthy, by Augustine Bazterrica, translated by Sarah Moses.

Bazterrica has the ability to render the bleakest, most horrifying, dehumanizing, emotionally upsetting material in language that is cutting & gorgeous.

Alright, back from the park and the frigid-for-North-Hollywood temperatures and winds. Warming up with a horror doc.

#NowWatching Pennywise: the Story of It.

1990, when It (and Nightbreed) came out, marked my transition from being too scared for horror to being legitimately obsessed.

A completely meaningless milestone: the first cd played in the new car.

A burnt cd of some of my favorite #shoegaze #dreampop EPs I got on Bandcamp this year. This music was made to be played on homemade CDs with handwritten sharpie labels.

Was gonna catch up on some 2025 films but decided, since I have Apple TV for a bit, to finally watch the only film from a Coen Brother I haven’t seen yet.

A few years ago I tried to make it a habit to write a haiku a day. I kept it up for a month or two. They were almost universally dreadful. But I like this one a lot.

The shot is from Strangler of the Swamp (1946). The haiku isn’t really inspired by the film, more the feel of the cinematography.
