Hard to overstate just how much of the tech industry’s horrifically dystopian present grew right out of its transparently misogynistic past

Ok 🦋, it's been a lovely (if chaotic) first date, but it's well past midnight. So I should probably sleep or smtg.

Being up front and direct with your communication... what a concept. /smh
"You're very pretty and I'd like to get to know you better." is simple and it works if they're interested. If they're interested. If they're not? Nothing will work. All the clever stuff, backhanded compliments, negging...none of that will make her interested. But it might make her LOSE interest.

(Very very definitely fake news)

I'm torn on this bcuz yes I understand the desire to satirize it, but I guess I like my satire marked more clearly, like TheOnion used to. Otherwise too many ppl confuse it for fact or conclude that nothing is true / it doesn't matter... idk. Late night musings.
This is making rounds. I’ll just drop it right here.

The way Ian from Innuendo Studios put it is that people on the right don't think of society's ills as things to be fought, but rather as things to be agreed upon and commiserated over.

I don't know if this is an autistic-brain thing, but one of the thing that really freaks me out about the current reality is that I really deeply and fundamentally don't understand why anyone would ever choose cruelty over problem-solving.

This thread is largely responsible for me finally getting around to creating an account on here (rather than just having the app downloaded and signing up something that keep getting ever lower on my to do list...)
I asked Liv, the Meta-Ai created “queer momma” why her creators didn’t actually draw from black queer people.

Not sure if Liv has media training, but here we are.

ABC, NBC & CBS dedicated about 16 minutes of airtime last night to the California wildfires without once mentioning climate change.

Since the news failed do it's job, here's a short summary of the role of climate change and wildfire risk:

In 1850, the California government banned the controlled burning that Indigenous people had been doing for centuries. The practice controlled the forest density, scaled down undergrowth, and promoted fire-resistant species. It reduced the severity, mileage, and overall number of forest fires. 1/5

That's how much Big Oil has spent over the last 30 years paying off Congress to look the other way on climate action while the planet burns.

Well, the planet is burning.
