How vulnerable is the Ellison’s ownership of CBS Paramount & TikTok to an AI bubble burst? If there’s an AI collapse could it make them need cash & force them to sell? Or do they just have so much money it doesn’t matter?

Happy Festivus, everyone!
Peter Navarro: "In an age of AI when all the white collar jobs are going away pretty damn quick, I think maybe it's a good time for people to think about having good blue collar jobs ... give tariffs a chance, because they're working"

If I see one more person spread the "all GDP growth is AI" nonsense....

Avg QoQ ann. % change for GDP in 2025 after three quarters is 2.5%. Avg for consumption is 2.2%.

The idea that AI investment is the source of all growth is just completely wrong.
Big 8:30 data slate

Q3 GDP +4.3% QoQ ann. vs +3.3% est.
Consumption +3.5% QoQ ann. vs +2.7% est.

Recall: this is the "second release" but its our first actual look because of the shutdown.

Durable goods data for Oct mixed, miss on headline but core capex beat.

This is a big deal in the conservative legal world: John Malcom and the Ed Meese center are leaving the Heritage Foundation, 15 staff departing in all. (Hard to translate this for a BlueSky audience, but it's a pretty significant move in the conservative legal world.)

Young Kim is the MAGA Trump boot-licking Republican in my area. She's the worst.

But Esther Kim Varet is the Dem that will replace her if we help raise her profile( @estherkimvaret.bsky.social ), repost for her & for those who can afford to, make a contribution.

Even $2 helps.

I just reduced background noise, chopped the 14 minutes into 3 minute segments each compressed under 100 mb for bsky's limits, cropped and rotated a few degrees for easier viewing on here

My totally speculative theory on CBS is that when the WH saw the story, someone called an Ellison, who called Bari Weiss in a panic over the Warner Bros. bid, ordered her to kill it

Only a non-journalist (Ellison) would be too dumb not to understand killing the story just made things 100X worse

Hill I'm willing to die on: podcasts becoming a video-forward medium is / was a huge mistake, and the space is worse off for it

Trump suspending offshore wind under the guise of "national security" is a political gift to fossil fuel donors that actually makes us less safe. It spikes energy bills, increases blackout risks, and weakens our energy independence. Clean energy IS security.
