Actually just occurred to me that those of us who worked at Al Jazeera America — a hugely expensive boondoggle backed by an authoritarian regime that thought it could have it both ways — are uniquely well positioned to predict the future of CBS News.

A lot of folks say that now that Republicans have ripped the mask off, Democrats should feel free to act the same way, but for good. The thing is, the bases of support of both parties are meaningfully different and doing this kind of thing would put off a good chunk of the Dem base.

There are so many enemies here. The conglomerates want to have media control. Leonsis wants a piece of it. Remember, Leonsis wants to buy the Nats to complete the local sports media portfolio. MLB wants to bundle the RSNs for the next media rights. The Nats might likely go with them. RSNs are dead.
