BREAKING: ICE is sending Russian dissidents back to Russia. When the dissidents arrived in Russia, the Russian authorities were given documents relating to their asylum applications in the US which under US law are confidential. This seems to be part of a secret agreement between Trump and Putin.

Dozens of Russian dissidents have been expelled from the US and forcibly returned to Russia with the co-operation of immigration authorities

Returning from vacation and looking for a late summer read? @ivobantel.bsky.social and I got you covered!

In our new @wepsocial.bsky.social paper, we assess how mainstream parties rhetorically create an affect-based "common front" against the radical right.

This incidentally is one of the reasons they are polling so poorly - they give people who are sympathetic to them little reason to support them.

Usually, when Switzerland makes it into the NYT, it’s about a major bank collapsing. This time, though, it’s the country’s quite peculiar housing co-ops („Genossenschaften“) that make headlines.

They’re no panacea, but certainly worth exploring as part of the solution to the housing crisis
nytimes.com
The way that housing co-ops work in Switzerland may seem foreign to many. But the central idea is simple: What if homeownership had no profit motive and no capital gains? Advocates say their model could reshape how the world thinks about affordable housing. www.nytimes.com/2025/08/26/r...

🇨🇭🇪🇺 After Trump’s 39% tariff bombshell on Switzerland, even traditionally eurosceptic voices seem to be shifting towards the EU.

My dear colleague @goodmirco.bsky.social has just published his (first!) article that shows who the diehard eurosceptics are & how Switzerland compares to other countries
goodmirco.bsky.social
A milestone today: my first PhD publication, co-authored with Fabio Wasserfallen, is out in the @spsr.bsky.social. The article compares Swiss Euroscepticism—just as the title promises. The article is open access: doi.org/10.1111/spsr...
Bar chart comparing public perceptions of the EU across European countries. Switzerland stands out with one of the highest shares of negative views (very negative or fairly negative) and the lowest positive evaluations, similar only to the UK and Czech Republic. Most other countries, including Norway and Iceland, show more positive or neutral attitudes.

📍Why a non-profit organization? 📍

EPSA has played a vital role in building a strong network for European political scientists.

We all benefitted, but its structure, controlled by a for-profit company, distributed profits as dividends, rather to its members.

That’s changing. Now.👇

We explored language similarity between Querdenken (Telegram) and German politicians (Twitter). In short: AfD’s communication most similar, but parts of FDP and CDU/CSU also find common ground through discrediting left-wing politics.
