John Uri Lloyd’s ‘Etidorpha’ is fun because it’s a Jules Verne style science fiction story, but it also has illustrations like this, and some of the ‘science’ bits are a guy being like ‘hey, want to see your own brain?’

Didn’t expect to become the oversized version of Kirk Hammett but here we are.

Played lots of cool games in 2025, but the coolest was a 1987 pirate romance text adventure by Amy Briggs, who was also Ron Gilbert’s babysitter.

I feel like every scene I draw for Gilt is a real struggle and I am never satisfied, but then I put the character sprites over my WIPs and seeing them hanging out in that world makes me happy.

I know that this is Too Much but I had to wind down from a very intense Age of Wonders 4 session and how else but doodling in the margins?

I had too many notes for games that I am playing on my desk, so a while ago I ordered this frog notebook. Now all of these notes go in the frog notebook.

Nekron the Risen was just being kinda cute today 🥰

(Guess how many times I’ve accidentally read Fangir’s name as “Fangirl”)

This was the note I left as a reminder for when I came back to Age of Wonders 4 after my lunch break session today btw.

All I’m gonna say is that if this big fella can have low morale then I don’t feel so bad about having a rough day now and then.

Another perfect spring day! I ended up walking 35km this weekend. I have missed the sun, and I can feel myself recharged by it. Now I spring to life like a thorny weed in the garden - unexpected and strange, and full of vigour.

If today is the best day I get all to myself this spring, at least I know I did not squander it.

Spring is coming, and every day I check on the budding leaves to see their progress. It's magical to watch how fast it happens, but also wonderful inspiration for the alien world I am drawing.

When I was small I had a small Ice Planet 2002 LEGO set - LEGO catalogs always had such wonderful dioramas and I used to love admiring the layouts and colour schemes. That translucent orange feature colour always stuck in my mind, it was so handsome to me, so I used it here.

This scene had been waiting for me to paint the details in properly for forever. I finally got there last week. :)

I've been interested in the SFF novelist obsession with Catholicism (Dune, Book of the New Sun, A Canticle for Leibowitz) for a while, then last night read the first of this book's Canterburian tales and it's such a fun/awful twist on this.

For months I had been vaguely trying to track down a very old book that I had seen some great illustrations from, knowing it had some impossible to remember exotic name. I finally tracked it down tonight and the title is “Etidorhpa” - literally just “Aphrodite” in reverse.

Every day I stop by this bobtail and say hello to it. At first it was very wary of me but it's gotten quite used to me now. Today it was so warm and sleepy in the sun that it just opened one eye a tiny bit and then went straight back to dozing.
