You should support trans authors for many reasons, but one is that trans authors are doing things with their stories that aren't being done in cis mainstream books, including taking old tropes & examining them in new, unique ways. So if you're bored with what the big 5 are constantly pushing...

My most optimistic opinion is that the combination of cheap AI-generated fake news and major legacy news orgs taking a torch to their reputations is going to create huge opportunities for independent journalists who maintain a reputation for honest, ethical reporting.

it's hard to talk about this without sounding braggy but you can get pretty far as a business with sincerity and trust, mostly because so many goddamn businesses burn up that kind of intangible resource as soon as they get it, and everything is so dire right now that people are hungry for trust

The “dual state” theory was invented to describe Nazis. The Supreme Court could take us there.

Last summer my bff and I went to Epcot and we were waiting in line for the Ratatouille ride and he said "I've never seen this movie." And I tried to explain Ratatouille in words and sounded 100% unhinged, he didn't believe me at all.
