not sure a bio thing’s always necessary or even wise but I’m bored so here’s a summary of already shared info. I’m a staff carpenter at large institution; have a BA in philosophy and MS in a healthcare adjacent field but that didn’t work out so I rebuild Jeffersonian roofs and renovate offices now.

Damn, this movie must make a lot of sense.

While Paul Thomas Anderson's film is being heralded as a masterpiece by many, some conservatives accuse it of potentially inspiring left-wing violence.

I guess local militarized police vs federal secret police is the new two party system.

like his answer obviously could have been worse, I’d love to be wrong, but please do not be shocked if it just ended up looking like “crowd control”.
tjsleakyroof.bsky.social
not to be a downer but I wonder if perhaps people are focusing a little too much on “protective” and not enough on “crowd control”. this is a pretty common way to frame these things, for what should be obvious reasons.

Oregon National Guard Adjutant General, General Gronewold says if they are federalized, that he will advise the Title 10 commander to utilize National Guard Troops to PROTECT protesters at ICE facilities. This is the right answer.

if your resistance is supposed to work by causing shame, either in the perpetrators or in third parties who may come to your aid, you need a clear mechanism by which that might actually happen. I don’t see one here.
tjsleakyroof.bsky.social
imo a core issue with this approach to resistance is that it fundamentally misunderstands the way in which our society is broken. there is *plenty* of evidence for our enemies’ brutality already; the problem is many people live in a completely different epistemic reality from us and cannot see it.

We're in a moment now where it would be worth people taking three hours to watch Gandhi, particularly the scene of the salt march. There is value to making the brutality of your opponent so plain as day that no one can argue with it. The clarity of that brought down an empire

🚨 ICE said Marimar Martinez “rammed their vehicles.”

Bodycam footage says otherwise.

It shows an ICE agent ram his own vehicle into hers, sneer “Do something, bitch,” and then shoot her.

We can never believe anything ICE accuses anyone of.

When they perform outrage about social media posts, know exactly how bad their faith is
When a Guardian reporter pointed out on social media that the image was not a genuine photograph of the generally small and tame protests outside the Immigration and Customs Enforcement field office in Portland, the Oregon Republican Party's X account replied: "We're not reporters, just bad memers."

How many videos have you seen of protesters being brutalized? Pretending this imagery still changes the math the way you wish it would is an insult to the people whose bodies you would treat as props. Ghandi's era was more complex than many of you make out. This is not the 60s either. Things change.

I think a real problem in this world is a lack of posting bushido. You can go to war with the mods, with the big accounts, hell with the government itself on X the Everything Site, sometimes it is the honorable thing to do. But you should have your death poem written.
