Once again: Progressives must read Abraham Maslow. His Hierarchy of needs, needs to be applied going forward. The Achilles heel of the movement and philosophy is reaching for actualization without seriously attending to safety needs and framing. The right exploits this over and over.

Many big & alarming stories last week marking an acceleration in the unraveling of this country, but one not getting enough outrage is Trump accusing former President Obama of treason. Despicable, sick, unconscionable. A major line-crossing action that warranted loud & widespread denunciation.

With this vote, Congress makes ICE the highest-funded federal law enforcement agency in history, with more money per year at its disposal over the next four years than the budgets of the FBI, DEA, ATF, US Marshals, and Bureau of Prisons combined.

The point is a simple one. When the foundations of civic democratic America are being systematically gutted by the most reactionary administration at least in modern American history we shld be even less patient than usual with clout chasing lefty pablum making a perverse common cause with reaction.

This should be the end of Noem’s career in public life. It almost certainly won’t be, however, which is itself damning.
HASSAN: What is habeas corpus?

NOEM: Habeas corpus is a constitutional right that the president has to be able to remove people from this country

HASSAN: That's incorrect

Hamas is laying the groundwork to start attacking the protesters in Gaza.

If these “pro-Palestinian” activists care one iota about Gazans when their troubles don’t serve the preferred narrative, they will speak for these Palestinians and pressure Hamas to keep their hands off of them.

None of us can be sure what will “work.” You try multiple things and find your way in. Read some histories of the Civil Rights Movement by those who participated. They were never “sure” of what would work. Some campaigns fizzled out. But persistence, creativity, determination, and focus were key.

In light of the news that DOJ leadership is forcing career prosecutors to either dismiss the criminal case against Eric Adams or be fired, it seems like a good time to remind everyone that the judge can refuse to dismiss. That rule exists precisely in order to prevent corrupt dismissals.
