Since there's been remarkably little media interest in #Farage's mate Nathan Gill & the bribes he took to promote the interests of Putin's mafia state, please share this photo.

The stench of fraud, bribery & money-laundering around the "patriots" of Reform UK is overwhelming.
Photo: Nigel Farage with Nathan Gill and George Cottrell.
Captions:
Nigel Farage: Said Putin is the leader he most admires "as an operator".
Nathan Gill: Took bribes from an oligarch to promote Russian propaganda on Ukraine.
George Cottrell: Convicted fraudster and money-laundering expert. Farage's friend Andy Wigmore passed documents on Cottrell's arrest to Russian officials.

2/ Of course, Putin started his career as a Communist Party member & KGB officer. The Soviet regime was already deeply corrupt & Putin was instrumental in ensuring that his KGB cronies took control of state assets when it collapsed - as detailed in Catherine Belton's excellent Putin's People.

A reminder that this week the Conservatives announced they want a “British ICE”
johnpfaff.bsky.social
Um, ICE just coldly shot an unarmed PRIEST in the head w a pepper ball when he (and everyone around him) clearly posed no threat.

For the crime of … complaining about government policy.

Just to be clear, an English degree - learning to critically assess texts - is actually one of the most dangerous for people such as Badenoch.

An educated population, able to bring hundreds of years of context to statements in a dawning age of AI slop and attention-seeking dishonesty is also vital.
bearlypolitics.co.uk
So, the plan is to cut English, the arts, and sociology - the degrees that actually study culture - while on another part of your platform claiming to “defend” British culture.

It’s performance nationalism with a reading age of seven.
Badenoch: Curb students taking 'rip-off' degrees such as English
The performing arts, sociology and anthropology are among the subjects the Conservatives would like to cut

The Daily Express doesn't know the difference between "principals" & "principles".

And its political illiteracy is even worse. Putin is nothing to do with communism - he presides over a gangster capitalist kleptocracy.

Unlike Jenrick & Badenoch, Heseltine has no wish to preside over the smoking, toxic ruins of the Conservative Party. This means he's able to tell the truth about Farage & Reform with no fear that this alienate puce-faced racists in golf-club blazers.
bestforbritain.org
Michael Heseltine tells @europeanmovement.co.uk event that the Farage's Reform and European populist far right parties are “equivalents to the fascists of the thirties” and adds: ”We have to deal with President Trump for the next 3 years. We don't need his mouthpiece anywhere near No.10.” ~AA 🔥

Robert Peston
@Peston
Heseltine has just addressed a packed meeting of the European Movement at Tory conference. He does not show the restraint of most party leaders in his critique of Farage and Reform: “right wing equivalents to the fascists of the thirties are back on the march: Le Pen in France, AfD in Germany, Fdl in Italy, Vox in Spain and conspicuously Reform in this country. Much of President Trump's language in America coincides with words here in Europe. The immigrant has replaced the Jew as the problem which needs a solution although recent events here have cast a dark shadow…We must make clear that we will never have any part in the populist extremism of Nigel Farage. We have to deal with President Trump for the next 3 years. we don't need his mouthpiece anywhere near Number 10.”

There's nothing "un-British" about protesting genocide. Britain fought a war against genocidal fascists between 1939 & 1945.

And there's nothing "antisemitic" about doing this on 7 October. Conflating opposition to genocide with antisemitism & terrorism is irresponsible & dangerous.

This 'un-British' vibe is really beginning to piss me off

I'm being gas lit by my own Govt and I'm really not happy about it

Labour are seemingly happy to drift into the authoritarian arena daily

Trump's tweet that Portland is "war ravaged" just backfired. A Trump-picked judge cited it in blocking National Guard deployment to Portland, declaring him "untethered from facts."

On the pod, Oregon AG Dan Rayfield illuminatingly explains the ruling and what's next:

Multi-millionaire Robert Jenrick has several high-value properties. His main home is a manor in Eye, Herefordshire, where 165 out of 166 residents were white at the last census.

Strangely, this lack of integration seems to have escaped his attention.

Wow. Robert Jenrick doubles down by branding a black journalist's questions "ridiculous" and saying that the problem is not his comments, but "journalists like you who pop up and try to knock me down", adding that "this is the reason why terrorist attacks happen". ~AA

The line being spun by leading Tories at their conference is that Reform is "well to the left of Corbyn" on economic policy.

Hard to tell if they're so dim that they actually believe this or so contemptuous of people's' intelligence that they think voters will believe it.

Obviously *nothing* fishy about the financial relationship between Nigel Farage & his close friend George Cottrell (convicted fraudster & author of "How to Launder Money").

I'm sure they're both "honest as the day is long", as Farage said of his chum Nathan Gill. www.theguardian.com/business/202...

2/ BTW, I'm a staunch supporter of the BBC - it has many excellent journalists & much of its factual output is extremely good.

Which makes me all the more angry that a man like Robbie Gibb has done so much damage to its mission to provide fair & unbiased coverage.
tom--scott.bsky.social
In other news, Robbie Gibb, former spin doctor for a Tory PM, former editorial adviser to GB News, & leader of the consortium that bought the Jewish Chronicle in 2020, is still responsible for "upholding the editorial independence of the BBC".
