Xie et al. show that myocardial infarction (MI) accelerates the hepatic pathological progression of MASLD by promoting the production of CCR2+Ly6Chi monocytes, triggering hepatic immunoinflammatory response, and upregulating cardiac periostin contents, which in turn acts on hepatocytes and stellate cells to promote hepatic lipid accumulation and fibrosis.
