Tis the season for hot cocoa and if you love it as much as I do, you make your own. I've tried tons of #recipes, but each year I come back to @altonbrown.bsky.social's and it hits every damned time. Glad to see he's on Bluesky!

Why can't Google focus its AI efforts on Maps to:

1. Give me the route that is the most stress-free drive, not necessarily the fastest

2. Detect when I'm in an area I'm familiar with and just kinda shut up til I reach the area I'm not familiar with

Times I *want* to write:

1. Shower time
2. Work time
3. Bed time

Times I apparently don't want to write:

1. Writing time

I'm gonna try again this year. I won't likely finish. I never have! But I learn something new *every single time* I fail.
The first #AdventOfCode 2025 puzzle comes out in about five hours! What's your plan? What language(s?!) are you using? What's your IDE of choice and why is it Vim? Do you have a comfy chair? Did you check out the beta release of Lua 5.5? How much sleep have you gotten? Drinking enough water? 🌟 ❤️ 🎄

Really lovely character creation by this artist! I find myself wanting to write stories in their world. Wow!
The Horrobell!
This creepy quarterjack rides a haunted bell through the night skies, dinging a dreadful dirge that shatters through the souls of any unlucky enough to listen! The sinister silver hammer sings out supernatural serenades signaling that its the time for terror!

I'm super annoyed that Americans keep putting people in charge of things they don't understand.

It's time y'all started getting a lot madder about this shit or we're gonna wake up one day having to teach our kids how to just accept this Orwellian future because we let it become an inevitibility.

100%. They've already cut corners in the presentation. There's no reason to believe they didn't cut corners with their research.
I don’t know if anyone else notices or cares, but when I see a presentation in which the speaker uses obviously generated-AI images to illustrate their slides, it makes me immediately less confident in whatever other content they’re presenting.

Weird fallout from turning off the "smart" sorting options on my wife's gmail; now that everything dumps into a single inbox folder, she can see just how many things have been sending marketing emails (and thus also selling her email). It is absolutely staggering.

Sick of Google's constant enshittification and growth-at-all-costs mindset? Want email privacy back?

Switch to Proton.me They offer Mail, a VPN, Calendar and Drive. I made the switch years ago and have been happier for it, so I'm just watching this Gemini bullshit blow by.

Fun Fact: Poptarts are in the Disgusting Food Museum in Malmö, Sweden.

They also used to be my daily lunch in high school since I was alotted $3USD (1990's dollars) for daily lunch money by mom. They were $0.50 in the vending machine, I'd get two packs, leaving me $10 cash by the end of the week.
BREAKING: We’re getting six (!) edible mascots at this year’s @poptartsbowl.com!

- six edible mascots, three on Team Sprinkles and three on Team Swirls

- fans get to vote on which mascot team to sacrifice to Mouth Heaven at game’s end, the biggest edible mascot sacrifice EVER
