What’s funny about JURASSIC PARK (the novel and the movie) is that, yes, the scientists were operating on flawed logic, but all the events of the plot wouldn’t have happened were it not for Nedry wanting more money and Hammond not wanting to pay him more money.

Science didn’t kill - capitalism did.

ICE, operating as it does today, is a logical outgrowth of its genesis, our last several decades of militarism, and the nation’s own fascination with violence. That doesn’t mean it was inevitable, but there’s a clear path from “9/11 and our collective response” to “the thugs we see today.”

the answer to the trolley problem is not to pick who to sacrifice, it’s to dismantle the system that led to an unsafe trolley crossing.
