I'm Norwich to give a talk tomorrow, but came a day early to give a writing workshop. Wonderful to catch up with Cathie Martin, who hired me in 2009 when she was EIC of @theplantcell.bsky.social. Thanks to @ciara-obrien.bsky.social for being a great host & other @plantaeofficial.bsky.social fellows.
Top left = Mary and Cathie catch up over coffee and talk about books. Top right = Mary and Ciara take a photo opp in front of Cathie's world-renowned collection of Plant Cell covers. Middle = a fantastic, thoughtful, engaged group of ECRs who shared thoughts on writing and AI. Bottom, current, former, and maybe future Plantea Fellows after we shared our "origin stories" over lunch.

It was so nice to have you in Norwich!

I can't think of a better keynote speaker for the #NBIAST2025, tomorrow will be great! 🤩

First post on the Node and first attempt at summarising a paper that is not about plants! 😱

Super cool paper, had fun writing my summary 📝

Busy week for TSL Ventures!

First Damien Caubrière and Sasha Eremina joined the #WorldAgriTech Innovation Summit in London, then innovation came to Norwich for Norwich Research Park's #PosterShowcaseEvent.

Huge thanks to everyone for making Norwich a centre of excellence in agritech! 🌱🚀

Cool program alert! "The P2P Program is a 1-year training program for people interested in pivoting to a career in plant science, imaging, data science, etc, but have limited research experience. It enables adults with at least an associate's degree to upskill in emerging technologies & methods" 🧪🌱

Thrilled to share our new bioRxiv preprint!✨ Huge credit to first author Yujin Chen and thanks to all co-authors. Extra special: my first paper as co-corresponding author (with Lieve Gheysen).

No way!
I always thought they were related (but I'll admit I never looked it up).
Thanks for sharing!

Yes, that's definitely one thing to consider depending on target audience and platform
turchil.bsky.social
Definitely agree with that!

But once the thinking is done, the objectives are clear and it's "just" a matter of weaving them together - what then?

I feel like more and more people are used to the writing style of AI and often prefer that/keep writing until it sounds like that
turchil.bsky.social
Honest question: is there a point in learning to write in 2025, when everyone uses AI? Asking for a friend

Still, it's pretty cool that you can get compensation for a 15+ min delay 🚂

We are thrilled to share that our scientists joined the opening of Future of Food, a new free exhibition held @sciencemuseum.org.uk about how food must change to protect the planet 🌍

Resistant potatoes developed in Jonathan Jones's group are an integral part of the exhibition 🥔 buff.ly/slKlOSy
Blight-resistant potatoes displayed inside a glass case at the Future of Food exhibition. Slices of infected traditional and blight-resistant potatoes are displayed next to each other. The susceptible traditional variety is affected by infection and is a dark brown colour, while the blight-resistant potato retained its white color.
A short explanation is provided under the display, which includes a picture of scientists who contributed o the development of blight-resistant potato: Jonathan Jones, Simon Foster, Marina Pais, Agnieszka Witek, Robert Heal and Kamil Witek.

Screen grab of a powerpoint talk title slide with a tan background. The title in black text reads "Floral trait variation and gene expression in Mimulus cardinalis across a range-wide latitudinal gradient". Below is my contact info (Kelsey J.R.P.
