I have come to the conclusion the EHRC guidance on single sex spaces should not even come to Parliament. It is misleading and has caused distress for my trans constituents.

I urge @bphillipsonMP to reject it on grounds of practicality and human rights.

Do you live in Canada & own a dog? Do you give them dog treats or feed them? You will want to keep your eyes on the CFIA Recalls website (here: recalls-rappels.canada.ca/en) for an upcoming recall or public alert for dog food and/or treats sold across Canada. What brand/type(s)? Unknown at this time

Just a reminder: they were never actually against cancel culture. They were against the cancellation of people they agree with or like. They’ve always been enthusiastically in favor cancelling people they don’t like. If you took them at their word you’re a useful idiot.

Rand Paul: "People say, 'Oh, people have a right to say things.' Well, actually they don't necessarily have a right to say things. Many people have in their contract what we call a morals clause ... I think it is time for this to be a crackdown on people."

Calling Card (I am black) —Adrian Piper, 1986
Dear Friend,

I am black.

I am sure you did not realize this when vou made/laughed
at/agreed with that racist remark. In the past, I have attempted to
alert white people to my racial identity in advance. Unfortunately, this invariably causes them to react to me as
pushy, manipulative, or socially inappropriate. Therefore, my policy is to assume that white people do not make these remarks, even when they believe there are no black people present, and to distribute
this card when they do.

I regret any discomfort my presence is causing you, just as I am sure you regret the discomfort your racism is causing me.

A friend reposted this by @zellieimani.bsky.social from 2020 and it remains apt:

Really important point. Authoritarianism has a small bag of trucks and this admin has already emptied it onto the table. All that's left is more powerful versions of the same ones they're currently using and, frankly, that's preventable if we don't comply in advance.

We’re already living through Trump’s crackdown on the left. Troops to cities, ICE targeting, mass firings, higher ed, media, science, etc.

They don’t have some big cards they’ve been holding back.

They do, however, constantly try to pretend they have more to scare people into acting as if they do.

If you're writing about how Stephen Miller's going to use this as a pretext for going after the left I think it's incumbent on you to say how he plans on doing that. Otherwise it's just scaring people into submission before he's done anything.

Autism and being a jackass aren't inextricably linked. Yes, autism can cause social misunderstandings that inadvertently hurt people, and autistic people can just be insufferable assholes, but being an insufferable asshole isn't an autistic symptom.
The "Is this a pigeon?" meme. An anime character, labeled "Autistic Ally," stares at a butterfly labeled, "Person being a jackass," and asks, "Is this autism?"

So the joke is when an ostensible autistic ally sees someone being a jackass, they ask, "Is this autism?"

FOX news host suggests we euthanize the homeless, someone goes into two encampments and starts shooting.

13 people shot and Jacob Frey and the media are just talking about it as the new best reason to clear the encampments
'We're shutting this thing down': 8 shot at Minneapolis homeless encampment hosted by landlord, Frey pledges action
That shooting came less than 12 hours after another shooting just two miles away that left five others injured.

A Common Gull on the beach; two Sanderlings running across a seaweed-strewn beach at high tide; a Black-tailed Godwit showing its breeding plumage transition nicely; and a very bad distant photo of the Red-necked Phalarope!
A Common Gull strides across a sandy beach. This gull is white with medium grey wings with black tips, greyish green legs and bill, a lightly speckled head, and a black eye. There is a vertical dark stripe about one third up the bill from the tip. Two small sandpipers (Sanderlings) walk across a patch of seaweed at the edge of the ocean, with a small wave coming in at the top of the image. These small birds are white with grayish mottled wings and medium length black bills. A Black-tailed Godwit stands on one long leg with the other bent in open water behind some out of focus rushes. This large wader has a very long pink and black bill, a reddish orange head and neck, and wings that are patchy between soft grey and blackish brown with speckles as its plumage transitions. A tiny, very blurry and pixelated photo of a Red-necked Phalarope on open water. The bird is white and blackish grey with a medium bill and a dark crown and eye stripe.

Greylag Geese and a lot of Eurasian Spoonbills; a male Ruff just coming into his showy breeding plumage; a Eurasian Curlew; and a Black-headed Gull.
A very long, narrow photo showing a stretch of open water. The outsides of the image are filled with dark greyish brown Greylag Geese and the centre of the image focuses on a large flock of white Eurasian Spoonbills, most asleep with heads tucked, standing on their thick black legs in the water. A male Ruff coming into breeding plumage. The bird is standing belly-deep in open water. Its back is a mottled brown colour and the rest of the bird is white. It has a medium length orange and black bill. A Eurasian Curlew strides across a grassy field covered in feathery bird down. This large wader has long legs, a long downcurved bill, and is brown with tan streaks across its back and wings. A Black-headed Gull swims to the left in open water, with its reflection showing underneath it. This gull is white with pale grey wings with black tips and a black dot on its head. The beak is short and mainly dark red with a black tip, and its red legs are barely visible paddling underwater.

Unexpected day at RSPB Titchwell yesterday... saw a Red-necked Phalarope (lifer for me and a rarity here!) and maybe a White-tailed Sea Eagle!

First 4 photos: Wood-Pigeon on a nest (why in September, silly bird?); Syrphus sp. hoverfly; Wall Brown butterfly; Curlew Sandpipers and a Ruff for scale.
A Common Wood-Pigeon sits on a nest made of medium sized sticks in front of a green leafy background. Only the breast and head of the bird are visible. The bird is a greyish pink color with a black eye, yellow beak, and a white patch at the base of the beak. A female Syrphus hoverfly perches on a yellow Asteraceae flower made up of small ray florets. This fly has a somewhat similar appearance to a wasp, with a boldly black and yellow striped abdomen, transparent wings, a bronzy thorax, and large red eyes. A Wall Brown butterfly perches on a yellow Asteraceae flower against a background of dead brown grass and spiky green leaves. The butterfly is perched with its wings held open. The wings are orange with brown line markings and black eyespots, each with a central white dot, and the body is brown.. Two small Curlew Sandpipers and a larger Ruff are seen on a mud flat covered with water, each facing to the right with its head down feeding. The birds are brown on top and white on the bottom with long bills and legs.

If I'm perturbed and slightly aggrieved by hearing this said about my country (with some justification, it's not like the US is doing great things globally right now or at home)... imagine how an immigrant from any often-maligned background sees this 100,000 person protest. It's not okay.
