Glad someone's bringing this up because I've been wondering about it from the jump. Cult of personality only works when there's at least *some* tangible benefit they can hold that isn't a culture war talking point. This admin seems convinced the base will receive nothing and like it.
you can have cult of personality-based authoritarian consolidation or you can blow up the economy and make everyone’s lives noticeably worse but it’s difficult to see how you manage both
things will probably go to shit, but i suspect that Trumpist consolidation will not work primarily because almost every successful regime consolidation we've seen involves buying off the middle class
