And, to be sure, the elevator pitch reading of Hamilton conceptually as symbolic of the naive, shallow, late Obama era optimism re: race has some merit. I think it changed the way I viewed guns and gun control, but I was already left leaning at the time. I thought it would have converted more people like me, but sadly, those on the right just dug in their heels, or succumbed to conspiracy rather than facing reality.
do you remember 13 years ago today? remember thinking surely this would be the last straw, that something would change? i remember weeping at my desk thinking about the wrapped presents waiting under so many christmas trees for six year olds who would never come home.

There needs to be trials and there needs to be people sent to die in a prison cell. Consequences must fall on the people who issued the orders and those who carried them out. We must make the punishment of these people a national spectacle that will be remembered for generations.
