Just testing something out.
From the north she arrived, arriving alone under the glare of a black sun. Whatever color her coat used to be was bleached away to faded memory, punctuated by more recent bloodstains, the sheen that once adorned her gloves and boots as dead as the mountainous bones in the distance. A sword was dragged across the bleached sands. Green eyes gazed out into the heat-haze of the horizon with the ravenous intent of a circling vulture. Rowan Grim hungered.

She watched as the dead simply walked on thin air, rising as if there were steps or an incline that led them to the door of the castle. When she tried, nothing happened. There was only air and her foot landed on the ground, even though Mayu stood in front of her as if there was something holding her above it. “Only the dead may climb, it seems,” she mused. “I really didn't think this whole thing through at all, did I?”

Once upon a time, there was a little boy named Nikitakatuku. He was not named Nikitakatuku at the time, but he’d long since chosen to discard the memory of what he’d been named when he was still a little boy, young and ignorant of the world, still flesh and blood rather than cloth, cog, and composites. He was a curious boy back then, with big, bright, brown eyes that took in so much of the wonders. Wonders as mundane to others as the herd of goats his family raised for their cheese business, or the way flowers poked out from under melting snow and seemingly-dead dirt. Wonders as delightful as those curious moments when the sun appeared in the night sky to bludgeon the moon with a stick made of stars welded together, resulting in a looming eclipse. The simple wonders of The Realm, one could argue.

Playing PBBG reminds me of my childhood, spending money on Alien vs Predator or Shadow Over Mystara in the arcades. As much as I love narratively-involved, takes-days-to-complete RPGs, sometimes I just want something simple, you know?
