I find I tend to play fighting games almost exclusively when I'm feeling down about everything around me, depressed at my terrible writing, or dreading my financial state.

In other news, I have at least ten different fighting games installed across my various devices. I've played them all recently.

I bought three games this year; Sifu, Capcom Fighting Collection 2, and Persona 4 Golden. But I hadn't bought a new game for give or take five years before then.

Both have happened to me, and the order usually tells me how long something ends up. If I have characters happen first, I know it's going to be either a novel or multiple short stories with the same core cast. If the story pops in first, it's going to be something short.

Sat down to write today, and instead got a lot of outlining done. Maybe I'll write some actual usable words before the day is done. It's always easier for me to write whilst following an outline.

I realized years ago I write better off vibes and instinct than plots and outlines. Why it took me years after that to consider maybe I need to try worldbuilding the same way, I will never know.
