Christian who believes everyone (including those who do not believe like I do) deserves respect and dignity.

I also love Liverpool FC.
Sadly accurate
A guy I date long ago had a sister who was an attorney representing victims on these cases. She lasted a year and that was considered nearly heroic. You don’t actually need to experience everything. You can settle for knowing it is very bad.
I’m a trained social worker. I worked with cases of CSA and other horrifying traumas. I didn’t learn til 6 months before I burnt out how dangerous and cumulative vicarious and secondary trauma are.

You don’t want this in your head and you don’t want it to live in your body. It doesn’t leave.

You know you work in a hospital when you see someone with dermal implant jewelry, and rather than think, "that must've hurt," your first reaction is, "I hope you never need an MRI..."

One of the president’s most sacred duties is to serve as consoler-in-chief for a grieving nation. In moments of sorrow, our pain is deepened by the absence of a leader with the empathy and compassion required to shoulder that responsibility.

Happy Hanukkah to our friends who celebrate. Rachel Posner, a rabbi’s wife in Kiel, Germany, took this photograph in 1931 -- a potent reminder that fascism must be fought in every generation, even if it's wrapped in an American flag and a red hat.

If the sky
That we look upon
Should tumble and fall
Or the mountains
Should crumble to the sea
I won't cry
I won't cry
No I won't shed a tear
Just as long
As you stand
Stand by me

A heartbreaking, devastating loss.

Everyone could use some beauty in their life, so please enjoy these images of the Northern Lights taken by our friends.
The Northern Lights were spectacular tonight. They actually danced over our heads.

Something folks are missing here: this raid wasn’t about “illegals taking American jobs.” It was about ICE storming the Hyundai–LG battery plant in Georgia, part of a $7.6B Metaplant project that isn’t even operational yet.

These are people with real shit to do in their home countries.

I don't think flattery is on the table anymore. I think this has finally registered as an all-hands-on-deck global crisis.

They are wearing *suits*.

People are reading AI-generated synopses of books and then claiming they read 100 books in a week. This is how the abolition of books began in Fahrenheit 451: classics were condensed into five-minute summaries for those too busy to do the reading. Later came the burnings.
