NEWS: Last night, the Department of Homeland Security detained a Palestinian who helped lead the Columbia encampment.

Agents told him his visa was revoked. He said he had a green card. They were confused—then said that was revoked too.

His attorney demanded a warrant. Agents hung up instead.

Why is half the military purge focused on lawyers?
Two reasons:
*Hegseth has complained about lawyers restricting the military, and has defended war criminals
*Broader pattern where Trump is targeting General Counsels, assuming that loyalists will offer a legal rationale for illegal actions

They’re doing exactly what they said they were going to do and this is going to have a multigenerational impact. Everyone should be concerned about the attacks on NOAA and the NWS.
Losing NOAA would be devastating. Project 2025 authors want to get rid of it because it monitors climate change, and privatize the information it currently provides for free, so you'll have to buy information about the weather and the winds (imperative for mariners).
I have covered NOAA and it’s work for like 15 years and this is brutal. If you’re there and want to chat or share anything, signal is davelevitan.26

I just spoke with an attorney who works with the NOAA, and there is a valid path to shut down what's happening. The agencies are compromised, the IGs are fired, etc.

We need a state AG (she said NY would be best) to file a lawsuit seeking an injunction using state and federal cybersecurity laws.

Dems responsibility is to highlight EVERYTHING that happens from here on out. Document it, publicize it, write about its effects and future ramifications.
If/when Trump pardons 1/6ers and prosecutions of him are dead, there will be a strong media push toward "turning the page" and "looking forward, not backward." Trump will rewrite 1/6 entirely. Dems need to think now about how they're going to handle this.
