Disappointed to see Jon Stewart & co joke about masking in public. I do it for my medically fragile daughter (Batten Disease). People not masking properly led to her getting pneumonia, which led to her being on life support, which led to me getting price quotes on her cremation just in case.

This is so bananas. Aside from the obvious prejudice, things like pipes bursting or house fires happen! Locals need immediate temporary housing for all sorts of reasons, and not everyone lives near reliable family or a support network!
A Hampton Inn in Asheville just canceled my family's reservation because our address (incorrectly) showed Asheville—and the hotel bars locals within 50 miles.
When I asked why, they said, "because of our homeless population," adding that most hotels here have similar policies.

People throw around “neoliberalism” far too much, but the meaning of neoliberalism is to use markets to solve any and all problems. In a way it’s a “relief” to face the barest, most gunmetal version of the thing, if only to marvel at it before it eradicates us.
