“We honor her memory by living her values: rejecting hate and choosing compassion, turning away from fear and pursuing peace, refusing division and knowing we must come together to build a world where we all come home safe to the people we love.”
"I am now left to raise our son and to continue teaching him, as Renee believed, that there are people building a better world for him. That the people who did this had fear and anger in their hearts, and we need to show them a better way." www.mprnews.org/story/2026/0...

the 45,000 gun deaths we suffer each year are just the price we pay to live in a society made safe from government tyranny by an armed populace

He's directing traffic. He steps inbetween ICE and two women who are being harrassed by them (one of whom was shoved to the ground for no reason), raises his hands and turns away from them and says "Okay! Okay!" to indicate he isn't going to be aggressive, at which point they start with pepper spray
He was helping direct traffic when federal authorities approached him. Less than a minute later he was dead.

It’s just beyond belief what is happening. Not only that it is happening, but that there are people who support it. It hurts the head and the heart

A friend shared a local newspaper clip about his younger brother’s sports accomplishment and I immediately found a typo (with the brother’s own name mispelled!!!) because I have a disease known as Copy Editor’s Madness

Saw this snippet of a David Lynch interview and my day has been immensely improved by repeating “A little mouse, huh? And he’s your pal! Well, isn’t that great” while doing a Gordon Cole impression

The dumbest fucking people on the planet represent us. It is so damn embarrassing.
Q: Can I bring you back to Greenland?

LUTNICK: No. It's not necessary. The Western Hemisphere is vital for the United States of America.

NYT heard “Don’t Print Lies in the Newspaper” and took that to heart
All the ways in one story the Times avoids calling Trump’s statements lies:

“falsehoods,” “baseless claims,” “overstated boasts,” distortions,” “inaccurate claims,” “exaggerations,” “inaccurate superlatives.”

I am now three seasons into TURN and still having a good time. I remember when TURN was airing I thought “oh I’ll get around to that eventually” and over a decade later I finally got around to it!
On a related note I’m a season into TURN: Washington’s Spies and having a good time

NEW — ICE violence has spread well beyond Minneapolis, with agents landing in small cities like St. Cloud. I spoke with Alice Valentine, a local queer trans woman, who protested ICE on Monday and was pepper sprayed, beaten and jailed as a result, along with her girlfriend.

This is Alice's story:

Alice Valentine of St. Cloud was pepper sprayed and jailed by ICE for trying to protect immigrant neighbors.

Whoever or whatever at Netflix is in charge of episode thumbnails should have a simple rule: the very last shot of an episode should NEVER be the episode thumbnail! And yet!!

I continue to not be able to watch a video without it freezing up 20 seconds in. Incredibly frustrating stuff.
Incredible progress has been made with the video service on this app: Now the videos aren’t even making it halfway through before they freeze. And another fun new development: The frozen videos now lock up the whole app so I have to close the app and reopen it rather than just close the video. Cool!
I would love to be able to watch one video on this site without it freezing halfway through. It’s every single video now. So annoying, so consistent
