The smell of vetiver has great persistence, with warm and deep notes found in the rarest resinoids. It becomes ambery and balsamic. Indeed, vetiver terpenes evoke medicinal odors: green and resinous pine.
why isn't the lizard deep fried
this morning I’m wondering whether the gecko pictured is a helpful sprite or a foul serpent from the depths. he stirs the spirit and yet obscures much from us-for where is this power located, and how to tap the font and drink of it?

i still believe there is room in this world for love between demoncrats and repugnicans, and how much more for trade in goods and services
I need to find an electrician but I want to make sure they are not a repugnican. Any thoughts on how to do that? Is there like an Angie's list for liberals? There should be.

I don't think this is true. I think you're supposed to be embedded in a network of criticism, gossip, stimulant abuse and strange literary rites to work this out.
One skill you’re supposed to have as a literate person is “be able to answer *why* someone wrote what they wrote”. Are they being serious? Are they being silly? You’re supposed to be able to figure that out on your own!

monarchs can overreach very easily. it's not an inherently hilarious concept. John. Charles II, James II, George III: famous overreachers and that's just in one country.
It's funny that they acknowledge that the Pope is an absolute monarch within the vatican but still do the "critics think he overreached" thing they do to Democrats in the US

sometimes i am not sure that they actually did all the planning, but thought about how cool it would be if they did.
I do believe that the people who practiced Greco-Egyptian magic believed it worked, in some form, (as opposed to simply scamming people) because some of these take a lot of planning and work for no other obvious benefit.

i think my crankiest “i am approaching middle age” opinion these days is that IP shared universe franchises have not just been bad for the movies but bad for audiences to, in that they have basically trained them to treat story and character as secondary to LORE and EASTER EGGS
rediscovering on threads that star wars fanboys are the absolute worst. had someone literally say that because i have only been a star wars fan for 30 years, i do not understand how much dave filoni means to the fandom

You can really drive yourself insane looking into just how much of American Protestantism, and thus the tides of American history and politics, are driven by what’s essentially a more masculine-coded version of The Secret

I've been thinking a lot this week about what happened to all the anti-woo sceptics. It's looking very overdetermined, but this is an important part of it.
Crank biodiversity collapse is one of the most overlooked problens of our era. I worked with a guy who slept in an orgone accumulator and I'm sure now he's just a Qanon guy

Hahaha what a brilliant hypothesis:

Were elephants able to grow so big without increasing their cancer risk because they evolved meticulous DNA-checking machinery because they have massive, hot internal testicles?!?

Elephants’ Giant Hot Testicles Might Be the Reason They Get Less Cancer
A   scientist claims elephants’ cancer-preventing genes may have evolved to protect their sperm from the scorching hot habitats the pachyderms’ live in
