Traditional illustrator and digital artist. Ex-LFL/LAL Clone Wars when it mattered. Unapologetic fan of the best SF of the last century in book, illustration, film, and comics (EC, not Carrot Top). OK- two centuries for Frankenstein, my favorite novel.
Oh little drone ship...
Spacedock Drone/Shuttle Drone TNG. Working through the mesh is done, now UV and soon a paint job.

(Trek Modeling)

Latest nights/weekends while job hunting (damn...). Switched over to this Tug, as a Merchantman break and recharge. For the MM, I now have the parts to convert for the Sheliak colony ship.
DS9's Atlas Tug, as built by Judy Elkins for S6E1.

#startrek #boldlygo #leonardnimoy #llap Though many use the Sept 8 airdate as the official 'birthdate' of the show, the production began years earlier. Today is the 60th anniversary of Day 1 shooting on The Menagerie. You know what to do. ;-) Bob Justman's schedule:

38 years young... it was an interesting choice on Nimoy's part, inspired by Biophilia, to push for the theme and subject of extinction consequences, and also to recognize Nicholas Meyer's writing style. No photon torpedoes, no villains, with a little punk rock indeed. #startrek #theonewiththewhales

In anticipation of tomorrow's anniversary... in my head the Minions would be the best cosplay group, and of course their 'props' always work.

As I move on to what should be the last iteration of this ship, v5!, it occurs to me that my admiration for it is rooted in it being the ship that brought Spock back to the family...
Still job hunting, it's brutal, but thankfully this sort of work is part of that.

Name your favorites from Star Trek:
Uniform: Monster Maroon
Spock: Nimoy
Couple: Quark and Grilka
Character: Scotty
Ship: Refit
Villain: Khan
Series: TOS
Captain: Kirk
Movie: The Wrath of Khan
Theme: DS9
Guest: Mark Lenard

A difficult list to fill out. That speaks to Trek's long history.

It started so simply, really... a little time put into a dedicated search for the original, then finding a range of them were out there and... well... yeah...

Turkey Day is coming, this year with special guests hosting favorite experiments. Join us, won't you?

RRSG - Livingston's Ride.
I strive for high-fidelity to original miniatures. This Ready Room Stargazer, seen in Picard's 'office', was a blast as it gave me a reason to shore up some gaps in my anime kits ;-) And yes, I was able to get THREE of the gashopon :-)

We need to be screaming about the energy usage of AI engines from our whole heart. Testing it out, making weird art “just to see”, heck even using “AI search engine results” are a MASSIVE energy drain.

If you don’t think a Kamala Harris 2024 presidential candidacy will result in an unrelenting barrage of hostile sexist mainstream media coverage, you’ve never seen the words “but” “her” and “emails” used in the same sentence.

The AI cult redux:

1. Nvidia makes graphics cards (GPUs) that are essentially very fast numerical supercomputers.

2. Bitcoin/blockchain happened. To "earn" BtC you have to crunch lots of numbers as fast as possible.

3. People bought so many GPU cards that there was a global shortage ...

One of the best aspects of conventions over the last 20 years has been the serious ramp up of science programming to accompany the fiction. Virtual Trek Con is no exception. Tonight's quiz was a blast. @mafnoor.bsky.social, @weatherkatie.bsky.social, and Dr Segal dropped da knowledge and laughs.

Watching Google shutter things that actually worked, like Google Play Music, and now Google Podcasts, to turn them into YouTube Music is like someone coming into your kitchen who takes away your blender and kettle then lets you know you'll now only be able to boil water or blend things in your car.

For the holidays and birthdays, I 'paint' (Photoshop color over a drawing) cards for The Wife. The theme largely revolves around The Minions; seen by me as hyper-intelligent 5 year olds... with a budget.
This is from last year. Terry's universe, mainly Discworld, has featured in a few...
