Definitely a contender for the speedrun of "How fast can I throw up" 😆

At this point, I simply treat it as another "label", like a genre, because people can slap whatever they want on Steam and call a banana an apple. It's just marketing, and appearance.

Does it change the perception of people? Yes.

Does it make the game better or worse because of it? No.

We live in a time where a solo dev that never opened a game engine can make a masterpiece out of pure passion.
You don’t need to be a veteran to make a fun a game.

I always love the

"I'll buy when the game is going to be on the Nintendo Switch"

as if it's just a "Export > Nintendo Switch", here, done.

Yeah I really think it's my own problem.
It's like I put marketing before the creation itself, instead of the opposite. I should create something, then find a way to market instead of filtering out my ideas by "how marketable it is", if you know what I mean.

and that's why it's fun!

I’m a big laptop user and this was very annoying with the small screen. Thank you 🙏

I miss this. I miss carefully selecting a handful of songs to burn on a disc. Then spending too much time thinking about the perfect order to transition my mood and burning the disc very slowly so that the songs won't skip. What a trip!

Making a playlist on Spotify is nowhere near this feeling.

I feel you, but don’t give up. This is precious experience that you can learn from!

I think your game looks fun but my guess would be that the beat em up genre is far from being a popular genre, unless you’re backed by a big IP (Marvel Cosmic) or you’re a dev with previous successes (Absolum).

Effort isn’t enough nowadays unfortunately

I hope your next game will be successful 🙏

That’s so cool, especially with the amount of games released every year!

I found this interesting. A first-look review of the game's presentation and appeal. I'd read more of this for sure!

I expect a wave of indies to delay their discounts to not be overshadowed by your announcement 👀

Yeah I see what you mean. It's much clearer when we stick to the more traditional roguelike definition and I tend to think that nowadays, the term lost its meaning and developers apply it left and right.
September 21, 2025 at 11:02 PM
Once again, all of this is subjective and everybody has their own definition. Let's keep it a healthy debate!
September 21, 2025 at 10:06 PM
That's my idea as well.
Roguelike to me is a label to describe a layer of your game, not the game itself. You never say "my game is a roguelike", you always say "my game is a deckbuilding roguelike". Roguelike by itself is too vague, it needs a second label to understand it.

Ask 100 gamers what roguelike means and you will receive 100 different answers.

I skipped day 37 because I started the code for this yesterday, finished and shared it today 🙏

I have no idea why I feel the need to explain myself 😆
