Christine Smout, 24, reportedly felt her blood run cold and saw the colour drain from her face in her reflection as she contemplated the prospect of continuing the course of driving lessons she began of her own free will, and actually pays money for.

Here's the essay I wrote for HuffPost that the BBC interview is based on:

"How could I, after 36 years of chaos, trauma, and systemic failure, possibly start to be … successful?"

I shared my story with the BBC — about homelessness, stigma, and finding stability through online work. Hoping it helps someone feel less alone.

Interview starts around 12 minutes in. This was quite scary!

It'd be weird for CPTSD survivors to experience what we have, & NOT struggle w/ hopelessness or suicidal ideation. The world struggles to accept or respond to that very common symptom w/ realism & support-- but it's real important WE not shame ourselves for it or overreact to it.

Doaa has been vetted by the Guardian newspaper and several people on here. In spite of this, moderation he deletes her account at least once per week.

Please help her .

Dad’s books are full of empathy, common sense, and a healthy suspicion of the powerful. But at its heart his work is also about how systems keep people poor while pretending it’s their own fault. So I hope Kemi’s taking notes as well as reading the jokes.

I've been really enjoying the new Alan Partridge series this week. Coogan has me crying with laughter at times. I think i maybe enjoy This Time even more than I enjoyed I'm Alan Partridge!

I got precariously close to my 'very bad place' this week. Illness led to work loss so fear of homelessness spiked with the rent due.

Support from friends & being able to work again pulled me away from 'very bad place'. I feel hope now, a few days after thinking I might never feel safe again.

Managed to get back to work! 6 weeks off with what I think was acute covid/autoimmune condition flare/chronic fatigue combined.

Absolutely horrendous, thought I was dying.

Now i have a lot of financial pieces to urgently pick up and I am terrified that I seem to be getting a minor cold...

Interesting! I have CPTSD and around 10 years ago I made up my own detailed little points system to make all tasks easier to complete. It was the only way I could get things done. I live by it still now, but I know the system so well it just goes on in the background of my head.
Sustainable CPTSD recovery means getting serious about values clarification & goal achievement strategies in ways that many normies never do.

It's not just symptom management. It's life development on a level that the "just leave the past in the past" people can't understand.

Being a #disabled #sexworker is hard. I nearly fainted on a live stream, and illness has shaped how I work & create. I’m always finding ways to make sex work safer & more accessible for myself & others.
