I know I shouldn't be surprised but it is incredible how swiftly abortion was pushed out of the political conversation the minute the election was over

Thanks to Tim Walz for leading the way on this.
Democratic campaign committees and state parties are partnering to host a series of town halls in GOP-held districts after Republicans were advised against holding town halls.

The districts: AZ-6, CO-8, IA-3, MI-10, NE-2, PA-7, PA-8.

There has never been a better time to primary your rep or senator
Schumer tells me Republicans might try to jam Democrats again in September, but thinks Trump will be less popular then and Republican appropriators might be more willing to stand up to him. He said they refused to do so now.

i think it's important for folks who are generally in the "Democrats suck and never do anything helpful" camp to understand that, yes, that is more or less true, but what Chuck Schumer is doing right now is like, in a league of its own in terms of Democrats actively working against democracy

I’m calling for new leadership in the Democratic Party. So many democrats want to do the right thing, but leadership is stopping them with the unspoken threat of refusing to give them leadership positions down the road. NEW DEM LEADERSHIP NOW!! #NewDemLeadership

FDR once bragged to a massive crowd at Madison Square Garden that the richest people in the nation hated him and “I welcome their hatred.”

Just weeks later, he was re-elected with 61% of the vote in a 523-8 blowout in the Electoral College.

Voters *like* politicians who make the right enemies.
The institutional Democratic Party is guided by an almost pathological level of conflict avoidance in almost every direction. “What can we do to make the least number of people mad?” is just a bankrupt way to operate.

I don’t buy the narrative that Trump & President Musk actually WANT a shutdown. If that was the truth, they would’ve put forth an even worse bill that would 100% guarantee zero Dem votes.

What they did was propose a bill that green-lights DOGE & Elon’s billionaire takeover by omitting guardrails.

My two cents: we don’t abandon the Democratic Party. We remake it. It’s a good party. It just has bad leadership.

everyone should listen to this in its entirety but journalists should listen to it multiple times. this is how you ask questions. you just keep asking simple, easily answerable stuff and the evasiveness becomes that much more glaring

KEEP CALLING. PEEL OFF ALL DEM SENATORS YOU CAN.

☎️: (202) 224-3121

Tell them to vote NO on Cloture and NO on CR. Vote is pushed to after 1:15ish for now. Situation is fluid.

The only public YES votes are Schumer and Fetterman. They need 7-8 total. KEEP CALLING.

Call retiring Senators too!

I love to call my Senators' offices three times per week and try to cajole them into doing the most elementary political messaging and strategy. This is what it means to be an engaged citizen: leaving a strenuously polite voicemail for a 74yo on a more regular cadence than I talk to my parents.
