I should remember to only run models in winter so I can get better use out of this space heater.

We (@matildecer.bsky.social @nzwiener-collins.bsky.social and I) pulled off our small but mighty workshop, bridging boundaries between gender x politics subfield and quantitative methods 👧🏻📊

So grateful to @lmumuenchen.bsky.social and Fritz Thyssen Stiftung for making it possible 🤓

Found my way to Seoul at #IPSA2025 this year 🇰🇷

I'm presenting research on (1) ad delivery algorithms in a large scale cooperative audit study and (2) targeting strategies used by political campaigns all over the world (50 countries!) in super election year 2024. Be there or be square! ⬜️

Very happy to see this paper by my PhD student Leonard Häfner published in @repjournal.bsky.social
Using data from legislator surveys we conducted in Germany and the US, he shows how legislators' conceptions of democracy affect their representation styles.

Pretty strong but also bleak message today by Former General Secretary of the UN Ban Ki-moon at #IPSA2025, says he has "no hope" for current world leaders, calling out nationalism, Trumpism, says we need a new young generation to carry things forward as global citizen.

This is a very interesting observational paper for those working on gendered dynamics of far-right, descriptive rep & femonationalism

Does women's descriptive rep. lower anti-gender discourse among far-right? No, it *increases* it (according to parl speech data 2009-2023)

I dunno man, if the WH can point to people from Latin America and say "gang member," and point to people from the Arab world and say "terrorist" or "antisemite," and those designations lead directly to detention or worse, I think we have to acknowledge we're in a pretty bad place.
